Job Summary

We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Surgical Support Aide to provide essential support to surgical teams and help maintain a safe, clean, and efficient operating room environment. This role is responsible for preparing and turning over operating rooms, transporting patients and equipment, maintaining appropriate cleanliness and infection prevention standards, and ensuring surgical supplies and equipment are readily available.

The ideal candidate should be comfortable working in a fast-paced hospital environment, performing physically demanding tasks, and supporting clinical staff while maintaining a strong focus on patient safety, cleanliness, and customer service.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, clean, disinfect, and turn over operating rooms before and after surgical procedures.
  • Safely transport patients to and from the operating room, recovery areas, and other designated locations.
  • Transport, organize, and restock surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment.
  • Assist with patient positioning under the direction of clinical staff and respond to surgical staff requests.
  • Handle medical waste and contaminated materials while following infection control and safety protocols.
  • Monitor supplies and inventory while maintaining professional Customer Service with patients, visitors, and healthcare staff.


Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 full year of Customer Service experience – REQUIRED
  • BLS certification (AHA/Red Cross only) – REQUIRED
  • High School Diploma or GED – REQUIRED
  • Ability to safely lift and move heavy items
  • Ability to transport patients and equipment
  • Ability to perform frequent cleaning and operating room turnover
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety and infection prevention


Orientation Schedule

During orientation and the first three weeks of the contract, travelers will be required to work the 1st shift, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM, to become familiar with the unit, workflow, procedures, and expectations.


After the orientation period, travelers will transition to their assigned schedule based on the needs of the unit.
