Role Description The Welding and Fabrication Shop Estimator is a full-time, on-site role based in Lacey, WA. This role is responsible for reviewing drawings, blueprints, and customer specifications to develop accurate material and labor estimates for welding and fabrication projects. Day-to-day tasks include analyzing project requirements, identifying suitable welding processes and materials, and preparing detailed cost proposals and quotes. The estimator collaborates with shop staff and customers to clarify technical details, timelines, and scope of work, and updates estimates as needed throughout the project lifecycle. Additional responsibilities may include maintaining estimating records, assisting with scheduling and workflow planning, and supporting continuous improvement in shop efficiency and cost control.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess practical welding skills, including Welding, Arc Welding, MIG Welding, and TIG Welding.
• Candidates should possess knowledge of Materials relevant to metal fabrication, including material properties, sizes, and appropriate applications.
• Experience reading and interpreting drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
• Prior experience in estimating, fabrication, or a related shop environment is preferred.
• Strong math, measurement, and analytical skills for calculating labor, materials, and project costs.
• Effective communication skills for collaborating with customers, vendors, and shop team members.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple quotes, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to safety practices and quality standards in a welding and fabrication setting.
