Seawall Urban Park Maintenance

Job Summary: This position will consist of cleaning and maintaining portions of the Galveston Seawall daily. It is a front-line customer service position which requires physical stamina to walk continuously, coordination to operate any vehicles assigned, standing, stooping, kneeling and multi-tasking in an outdoor environment.Minimal Qualification:Effective verbal communication skillsGood customer service skillsMust be able to withstand all types of weather elements including extreme heat and coldMust be able to physically perform all job requirements which includes lifting up to 50 pounds, walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping and kneeling for multiple hours per dayMust hold a valid, current minimum Class C Drivers LicenseMust be at least 17 years of ageRequired current certifications, licenses and trainings:Must possess a current and valid Class C Driver's LicenseWork Schedule:Must be available to work all holidays, weekends and special eventsMonday through Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.Essential Job Tasks:Maintain cleanliness of the Galveston Seawall Restrooms daily.Perform general maintenance of the restrooms, notifying supervision of any necessary repairs or operational issues.Safely operate a standard stick shift vehicle with trailer attached to transport trash after collection.Safely operate a 4x4 all terrain vehicle to assist with various tasksSafely operate a pressure washer as needed to complete tasksMaintain the cleanliness of bus stops along Galveston Seawall as needed or assignedMaintain adequate supplies needed for the restrooms, reporting to supervision if the quality or availability of supplies does not meet operating needsAssist in any other job tasks associated with the maintenance of the Galveston SeawallPromote good public relations through friendly, helpful, accurate communication with beachgoers and residentsAccurately complete daily reportsWork effectively with other employees and the publicWork effectively in outdoor settings including extremely hot temperatures and adverse weather conditionsOperate all vehicles assigned in a safe, responsible mannerPerform all other duties as assignedPhysical Requirements:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.Must be able to work in an indoor and outdoor environment for duration of shiftMust be able to physically perform all job requirements which include: squatting, crouching, reaching, bending, twisting at the waist, sitting, standing and operating basic cleaning tools, hand tools, power tools, heavy machinery, phone and computerOffice space is located in an elevated building, and employee may be required to ascend and descend stairs or ramp to reach work spaceSome job duties may require the use of a ladder or scaffolding, which requires climbing, descending and working from heightsMust be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted. and occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds assistedSpecific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focusMust be able to read, write and comprehend both written and oral communications, as well as respond in written and oral communication.This job description describes the general purpose and responsibilities assigned to this job and is not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities and duties that may be assigned or skills that may be required.
