Engineering Associate
Job Description
Our Direct Client has a new Engineering Associate job. The System Build Engineer will be providing cover and support in the different areas of the System Build and Cable Testing department. By supporting all areas encompassing, but not limited to, specification and drawing review, procedure writing, operator training, process improvements, troubleshooting process issues, disposition of non-conforming product, and equipment calibration and maintenance at the Cable and System Build areas. The candidate will coordinate technical discussions for the processes involved in his/her area. Cable testing and System testing along with system Build will be the primary area of responsibility. This position will augment existing Engineering personnel in this area.
Responsibilities and Duties: (*Indicates an Essential Function)
- Responsible to define and control of the test processes and equipment
- The engineering tech. shall document test procedures, train other technicians and operators, perform EOM study, maintain test hardware, fixturing, collect required test data, and troubleshoot test failures
- Troubleshoot and provide solutions and experimentation. Coordination with the Test engineers, product engineers, and R&D designers.
- Establish SPC controls as required and support data analysis (Cpk analysis) with product engineering
- Improve product test throughput and yield to meet program objectives.
- Support System and Block testing data compilation and analysis.
- Support company and facility Environmental Safety and Health (ES&H) policies and programs by:
- supporting and meeting annual and long-term ES&H objectives
- including ES&H principles in shop procedures, equipment purchases, and equipment/product design
- attending appropriate ES&H training
- providing information for accident and incident investigations and assisting in implementation of corrective actions
Qualifications:
- *Experience with manufacturing test set operation required
- *Microsoft application experience with technical computing skills preferred
- Working knowledge of test methods and experience writing procedures preferred
- In-depth knowledge of electro-optical test equipment is preferred
- A degree in a technical discipline is preferred but years of experience in electro-optics can compensate for a lack of a technical degree.
- Experience in optical testing methodologies is preferred
- *Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills are required

- Wear the proper personal protective equipment for each task, including, but not limited to, safety boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, dust mask, etc
- Climb up and down from equipment; climb up and down a ladder and work at heights up to 40’
- Maintain proper balance while working at elevated level
- Regularly lift and/or move 40 pounds. Anything heavier than 40 pounds requires additional assistance
- Ability to reach with hands and arms and use hands to finger, or handle objects, tools, and controls
- Ability to stand, walk, crawl, and climb stairs regularly
- Ability to bend, squat, stoop, kneel or crouch frequently
- Ability to talk and/or hear frequently
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
- Ability to work both indoors (regularly) and outdoors (occasionally) in all elements
