General Maintenance Technician Fork Union Military Academy, an all-boys boarding school located in the beautiful central Virginia region near Charlottesville, Richmond, and the Blue Ridge Mountains, is seeking a dependable and motivated General Maintenance Technician to join our team. This position plays an important role in maintaining a safe, functional, and welcoming campus for our Cadets, faculty, and staff.Essential Job FunctionsSupervisory Responsibilities:NoneGeneral Duties/Responsibilities:The Maintenance Technician is responsible for helping maintain Academy buildings, grounds, equipment, and facilities in proper working condition. Responsibilities include:Inspect buildings, grounds, and equipment to identify maintenance and repair needsComplete repairs and maintenance through assigned work ordersInstall equipment and appliances as neededRespond promptly to maintenance and repair requestsReport maintenance concerns and deficiencies to the Maintenance SupervisorAssist with storm clean-up and other campus needsWork collaboratively with other maintenance team members and outside contractorsLoad and unload tools, equipment, and materials into work vehiclesFollow written and verbal instructionsSafely use a variety of hand, power, electrical, and plumbing toolsFollow all Academy safety procedures and regulationsRequired Skills/Abilities:Regular schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PMSome flexibility in scheduling may be required based on seasonal events, emergencies, or Academy needsAbility to communicate effectively with managers, supervisors, team members, and other members of the Academy communityMust successfully pass required background checks and participate in random drug testingEducation and Experience:Prior maintenance experience preferredExperience with general building maintenance, repairs, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, or similar trades is a plusPhysical Requirements:The position requires physical stamina and flexibility to perform a variety of maintenance tasks. The individual must be able to climb up to five flights of stairs and lift, push, or pull up to 60 pounds when required.
