Our client, a prestigious global law firm, is seeking an experienced Matrimonial & Family Law Attorney with a minimum of 7–9 years of experience to join its highly regarded New York office.

The firm's global Family Law practice advises sophisticated clients on complex matrimonial and family law matters, with a particular emphasis on high-net-worth financial disputes, marital agreements, custody matters, and cases involving international, tax, trust, and private wealth considerations.

The attorney will work closely with lawyers across the firm's Private Client & Tax, Trust Litigation, Corporate, and Employment practices, providing an integrated approach to sophisticated domestic and cross-border family law matters.

Responsibilities
  • Handle contentious and non-contentious matrimonial and family law matters for a sophisticated and diverse client base.
  • Manage complex divorce proceedings involving significant assets, property division, financial disputes, and spousal support.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate prenuptial, postnuptial, cohabitation, and other marital agreements.
  • Represent clients in child custody, visitation, paternity, child support, guardianship, and parental rights matters.
  • Advise on complex and high-net-worth matrimonial matters involving trusts, tax considerations, and privately held businesses.
  • Handle international and cross-border family law matters, including jurisdictional issues, international custody disputes, relocation matters, and division of assets.
  • Prepare pleadings, motions, briefs, and other court filings.
  • Take and defend depositions.
  • Manage matters independently from inception through resolution.
  • First-chair trials and independently handle courtroom proceedings.
  • Work collaboratively with attorneys across complementary practice areas to develop comprehensive strategies for clients.
  • Participate in business development initiatives, including developing relationships with private wealth professionals, intermediaries, peer firms, and counsel.
  • Contribute to thought leadership through articles, industry events, conferences, and professional networking.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 7–9 years of experience practicing in a law firm matrimonial and family law group.
  • New York Bar admission in good standing required.
  • Significant experience advising clients across a broad range of matrimonial and family law matters.
  • First-chair trial experience and the ability to independently conduct trials.
  • Experience taking and defending depositions.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage sophisticated matters from inception through conclusion.
  • Experience with high-net-worth and complex financial matrimonial matters strongly preferred.
  • International or cross-border family law experience is highly desirable.
  • Excellent drafting, research, analytical, advocacy, and communication skills.
  • Strong academic credentials.
  • Exceptional organizational and project-management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail and sound professional judgment.
  • Collaborative and team-oriented approach.
Compensation

The expected base salary range for this New York position is $295,000–$310,000, with actual compensation determined based on experience, qualifications, and other permissible factors.
