Industrial Maintenance Mechanic (Manufacturing Reliability)
Job Description
Picture the start of your shift: you review the maintenance board, prioritize a preventive task on a packaging line, and then partner with Production to fine‑tune a conveyor before tackling a PLC alarm. By midday, you’ve completed inspections, documented work orders, and helped Engineering run a startup check on new equipment. When an unexpected breakdown hits, your diagnostics get the line running safely and efficiently—keeping our plant on schedule.
Your ImpactIn this role, you’ll protect uptime, safeguard people and product, and improve equipment reliability across a busy manufacturing environment.
Core Responsibilities- Execute preventive maintenance, inspections, repairs, and precise equipment adjustments.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and HVAC problems.
- Respond rapidly to breakdowns and urgent maintenance calls.
- Document accurate records: work orders, parts usage, and equipment history.
- Assist with installations, modifications, testing, and commissioning/startups.
- Collaborate with Production, Engineering, and Quality to boost performance and reliability.
- Drive continuous improvement by recommending process and equipment enhancements.
- Support planned shutdowns, changeovers, and special projects.
- Maintain a safe, orderly, and clean workspace.
- Follow all safety, food safety, quality, and environmental procedures.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- 2+ years of maintenance experience in manufacturing, industrial, food production, or similar settings.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and proven troubleshooting skills.
- Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and HVAC.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Proficiency with hand/power tools, measuring devices, and diagnostic instruments.
- Strong organization; able to work both independently and in a team.
- Willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as business needs arise.
- Technical degree, apprenticeship, or vocational training in Maintenance, Mechatronics, Industrial Technology, Electrical Technology, or related fields.
- Experience with PLCs, automation systems, VFDs, robotics, and industrial controls.
- Skilled trade certifications (Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC, Welding, etc.).
- Background in food manufacturing and knowledge of GMPs.
- Stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, and climb throughout the shift.
- Lift and move up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Work at heights and in confined spaces as needed.
- Wear required PPE.
Plant environment with exposure to moving machinery, industrial equipment, temperature variations, noise, and industrial chemicals. Safety is paramount—everyone follows company safety, food safety, quality, and environmental standards.
