Maintenance Technician Role Description
Maintenance Technicians are responsible for the complete customer experience, ensuring 100% customer satisfaction. This will include maintenance of HVAC equipment and when necessary expedient repair vs. replacement discussions for the customer’s HVAC equipment problems.
Maintenance Technician Essential Duties:
- Inspect, and maintain HVAC systems to ensure efficient operation.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance, including cleaning, lubrication, and filter replacement.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems in HVAC systems using appropriate tools and testing equipment.
- Repair or replace defective components such as motors, fans and thermostats.
- Test system performance and adjust controls to maintain proper operation.
- Ensure proper calibration of controls, wiring, and safety systems.
- Verify refrigerant levels, pressure readings, and airflow after installation.
- Handle and dispose of refrigerants and other hazardous materials according to EPA guidelines.
- Follow all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Respond to service calls in a timely and professional manner.
- Explain system issues and recommended repairs to customers in clear, simple terms.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance performed, parts used, and recommendations for future service.
- Complete service reports, work orders, and preventive maintenance logs in a clear and timely manner.
- Keep up-to-date with new HVAC technologies, tools, and repair methods.
- Collaborate with supervisors and team members to improve efficiency and service quality.
