Job Description
Industrial Plant Power Distribution & Controls Electrician

Build your career with Ashley Furniture. Join the team that powers the world’s largest home furnishings manufacturer.

A day in the life

You start by reviewing work orders, scanning the floor for safety, and prepping materials. Mid-morning, you’re pulling cable and setting up new circuits for a production line. After lunch, a lighting circuit trips—your troubleshooting isolates the fault in distribution equipment, you repair the conduit and conductors, verify proper operation, and document the fix. Before wrap-up, you update drawings, note parts used, operate shop tools to fabricate a quick bracket, and leave the workspace spotless—ready for the next shift.

What you will do
  • Install complete electrical systems for new construction and plant expansions.
  • Diagnose issues across power, lighting, controls, and equipment to uncover root causes of distribution failures.
  • Modify, upgrade, and expand existing electrical infrastructure and components.
  • Repair electrical devices, conduit runs, and conductors; perform minor equipment maintenance and routine recordkeeping.
  • Quickly report faulty machines and defective materials to your supervisor.
  • Operate shop equipment (saws, grinders, drills, and more) and verify work meets specifications.
  • Interpret shop drawings, one-lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, sketches, and work orders to complete assigned tasks.
  • Work safely at all times and model Ashley’s Core and Growth Values.
  • Keep work and shop areas clean, orderly, and inspection-ready.
QualificationsRequired
  • Current state journeyman or master electrician license in good standing.
  • 3–5 years of hands-on commercial/industrial experience (power distribution, motor controls, lighting).
  • Comfort working safely from 120V through 480V systems.
  • Fluency reading electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, one-line drawings, and control logic.
Preferred
  • Exposure to building automation and controls (PLCs, VFDs, BMS).
  • Background in industrial maintenance within manufacturing or large facility settings (production equipment, conveyors).
  • Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or related field.
