LPN Pregnant and Parenting Women Program

Northlake Behavioral Health System
Mandeville, LA, US Full Time

Job Description

Job Description

Position Title: LPN

Position Status: Full Time, Non-Exempt

Position Schedule: Nights

Nursing with a Bigger Purpose

The Ness Center is looking for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our specialized Pregnant and Parenting Women (PPW) Program.

PPW is different from traditional behavioral health treatment. Mothers receiving treatment can have their children, from infants through age 11, stay with them during treatment. This allows women to work on their recovery without being separated from their children and gives them the opportunity to build healthier, more stable futures for their families.

As an LPN in PPW, you will provide nursing care and medication management to mothers while helping create a safe, supportive, and trauma-informed environment for the entire family. You will work closely with providers, therapists, ADL Specialists, and other members of the treatment team.

This is an opportunity to use your nursing skills in a setting where the care you provide reaches beyond the patient; it can positively impact an entire family.

What You'll Do

  • Administer medications and monitor patients for therapeutic response and adverse reactions

  • Obtain vital signs and monitor changes in patient condition, behavior, or functioning

  • Assist with nursing care, procedures, treatments, and diagnostic testing within your scope of practice

  • Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning and communicate clinical observations to the treatment team

  • Accurately document medications, PRN assessments, orders, and patient responses

  • Maintain medication security and complete required controlled substance counts

  • Provide medication education and facilitate Nursing Education Groups

  • Support patient observation, milieu management, and unit safety

  • Work alongside Mental Health Technicians and other team members during periods of increased acuity

  • Assist with the safety and supervision of infants and children in the program as needed

  • Maintain professional boundaries while providing compassionate, trauma-informed care

What We're Looking For

We are looking for an LPN who is calm under pressure, can compassionately provide boundaries to residents while maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment, understands the importance of dependability, and genuinely interested in helping people. Behavioral health nursing requires strong clinical judgment, teamwork, flexibility, and the ability to remain composed when situations become challenging.

Required:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program

  • Current Louisiana LPN license

  • At least one year of LPN experience

  • Current American Heart Association BLS certification. Candidates without current AHA BLS certification will be required to attend company-provided training during orientation.

Preferred:

  • Psychiatric or behavioral health experience

  • Experience working with women, mothers, families, or individuals with substance use disorders

Why PPW?

If you are looking for a nursing position where you can make a meaningful difference, PPW offers something unique. You are not simply caring for a patient; you are helping a mother heal while she remains connected to her children.

If that sounds like the kind of nursing you want to practice, we would love to meet you.
