COTA Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant

About the Role:

As a COTA Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant, you will play a crucial role in our multidisciplinary therapy team, working alongside occupational therapists to help residents regain daily living skills and independence. You will assist in evaluating residents' daily living skills and capacities, determining appropriate treatment, and implementing care plans to promote recovery and re-entry into the community.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in interviewing residents to evaluate daily living skills and capacities
• Determine appropriate treatment and select activities and exercises based on medical and social history
• Participate in resident assessments (MDS) and care plans, including quarterly and annual reviews
• Assist in scheduling therapy services
• Assist occupational therapists in therapy activities
• Brief residents on procedures involved in occupational therapy and prepare necessary equipment
• Transport residents to and from occupational therapy rooms
• Perform occupational therapy in residents' rooms if necessary
• Reassure residents before and during therapy sessions
• Prepare residents for treatment and administer occupational therapy
• Instruct and supervise residents during therapy
• Design and adapt equipment and living environments
• Teach basic living skills to residents as necessary
• Promote participation in individual and group recreational activities
• Assist residents in ambulatory training
• Recommend modifications and changes in resident therapy treatment

Requirements:

• Must possess an Associate's Degree from an accredited program conferring the title of Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant
• Certification in Occupational Therapy by the American Occupational Therapy Certification Board
• Must hold a valid state license
