Facilities Maintenance Technician
Job Description
First Responder Wellness is seeking a dependable, hands-on part-time Facilities Maintenance Technician to support the day-to-day upkeep, repair, and maintenance of our residential and office facilities.
This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in keeping facilities safe, functional, and well maintained; enjoys solving problems; and can work independently while managing multiple maintenance needs across locations.
What You'll Do
· Perform routine and emergency maintenance and repairs, including light plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, painting, and appliance repair.
· Conduct regular facility walk-throughs to identify maintenance needs and complete work orders in a timely manner.
· Perform preventive maintenance, including HVAC filter changes and fixture and appliance checks.
· Maintain fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, and other basic safety equipment and report deficiencies.
· Move and set up furniture, equipment, tools, and supplies as needed across residential houses and offices.
· Maintain an inventory of tools, parts, and maintenance supplies and coordinate purchases with the Operations Manager.
· Assist with routine vehicle maintenance coordination for company vehicles.
· Coordinate with outside vendors and contractors when specialized repairs are needed.
· Respond to urgent facility maintenance issues, including occasional after-hours needs.
· Help ensure all facilities remain clean, safe, functional, and in good repair.
· Perform other duties as requested and required.
Minimum Requirements
· High School Diploma or equivalency preferred.
· At least two years of general maintenance or handyman experience, including light plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work.
· Working knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, and carpentry skills.
· Ability to safely use hand and power tools.
· Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, organizational, and time-management skills.
· Ability to manage multiple work orders across locations.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Compassionate, professional, and friendly demeanor.
· Commitment to cultural diversity, inclusion, and sensitivity.
· Valid California Driver's License in good standing.
· Livescan background clearance required for work in DSS-licensed facilities.
· Valid TB screening.
· CPR/First Aid certification required and must be maintained in good standing.
· Willingness to work some overtime, nights, and weekends, including occasional on-call availability for urgent maintenance needs.
Physical Requirements
This is a hands-on position requiring the ability to:
· Regularly lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
· Occasionally handle heavier or bulky items with appropriate assistance or mechanical equipment.
· Climb, bend, kneel, reach, push, pull, and perform other physical tasks associated with facility maintenance.
