Manufacturing Quality Systems Technician (SQF/GEMBA)

Florence, KY | $20.55–$22.55 per hour | Day Shift: 7am–7pm

What you'll own
  • Safety leadership: model safe practices, follow PPE requirements (steel-toe shoes, hearing protection, safety glasses, hair/beard nets), and uphold food service policies.
  • 5S discipline: maintain order and cleanliness for reliable, efficient testing.
  • Policy adherence: ensure plant and corporate safety procedures are followed; escalate nonconformance promptly.
  • Quality communication: document and report issues to operators, supervisors, and plant leadership.
  • Sampling control: collect, label, and catalog samples from designated machines.
  • Product verification: conduct random audits of finished goods (skids and bales) to confirm conformance.
  • Laboratory testing: perform paper tensile and handle strength, ink rub resistance, bar code scanning, and basis weight tests.
  • Instrumentation: use a tensile tester, Sutherland rub tester, bar code scanner, and gram scale accurately and safely.
  • Regulatory compliance: support OSHA and EPA requirements across all activities.
  • Audit support: assist internal audits/inspections and log results in required safety systems.
  • Safety culture: participate in weekly OSHA-aligned safety meetings; contribute to plant safety committee objectives and training for shipping/receiving and production teams.
  • Daily transparency: send end-of-shift summaries highlighting safety/quality issues, resolutions, and escalations.
  • GEMBA oversight: ensure audits are completed, address repeat or severe findings immediately, and maintain current records.
  • Cross-level collaboration: communicate routinely with frontline teams through Corporate Safety and Quality via email, calls, and meetings.
  • Certification leadership: organize and lead food safety certification efforts.
  • EHS partnership: work closely with the Corporate EHS Manager on safety and environmental matters.
  • Mobile Inspections: perform and document all required checks.
  • Data integrity: prepare reports and record testing/audits in Microsoft Excel.
  • Customer focus: assist with investigations of customer complaints to resolve quality issues.
  • Training & onboarding: deliver required training and support new employee orientation when needed.
  • Food-contact compliance: follow SQF Quality Manual and GMPs for Food Contact Packaging Safety.
  • Quality governance: continuously monitor quality and ensure plant/corporate procedures are followed.
  • Program audits: complete and record Monthly Sanitation and Security, GMPs, Master Cleaning Schedules, and Glass & Brittle Plastics audits.
  • Corrective action support: analyze complaints, file claims against carriers, contribute to formal corrective actions, and conduct root cause analysis.
What you bring
  • Minimum 2 years in a production, quality, or safety role within manufacturing or warehousing.
  • Strong reading/writing and basic math skills; understanding of quality standards.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Clear communicator (written and verbal) with the ability to lead meetings across levels.
  • Highly organized, analytical, and able to manage time and priorities independently.
