How You’ll Make an Impact

You’ll be the quality gate for precision components—validating dimensions, finishes, and features before they move forward. Your metrology skills, from CMM programming/operation to shop math and layout work, will turn drawings into verified reality and nonconformances into improvements.

Core Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret complex blueprints/specs; identify materials, finishes, and tolerances
  • Calculate derived dimensions (angles, radii, etc.) using formulas and shop mathematics
  • Verify features using CMMs and precision instruments: micrometers, calipers, V‑blocks, sine bars, dial indicators, gauge blocks, height gages, levels/protractors, optical comparators, bore gages, ultrasonic equipment, profilometer
  • Conduct first‑run and first‑article inspections on fabrications and assemblies
  • Perform surface-plate setups; establish reference points and centerlines
  • Document inspection outcomes; produce clear, defensible reports
  • Analyze defects, determine probable causes, and recommend corrective actions
When You’ll Work

First shift: 10-hour workdays with starts between 5:00–6:00 a.m.

What It Takes
  • High school diploma or GED
  • ~2 years of related quality inspection experience preferred (manufacturing; aerospace/defense advantageous)
  • SPC data collection and evaluation training preferred
  • Track record of solving problems and setting effective action plans
  • Vision standards: Jaeger 1 at 12" with corrective lenses and passing Ishihara; annual exams required
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
