Occupational Therapist School Setting in Ashland, VA

Seeking a skilled Occupational Therapist to step into a contract position covering a maternity leave for a K-12 district near Ashland, VA. This is a temporary, full-time role with flexible scheduling options—workdays and hours can be tailored to your needs, with the main assignment running from ASAP through October 23rd. You will play a vital role in supporting students’ access to education and fostering independence, working closely with teachers, families, and other school professionals.

Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive occupational therapy services to K-12 students in a school-based environment
• Conduct evaluations to determine student needs and collaborate on Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
• Develop and implement intervention plans that promote fine motor skills, sensory processing, and functional independence within the school and home settings
• Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and families to facilitate student access to curriculum and classroom activities
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with school district and legal guidelines
• Participate in IEP meetings, staff discussions, and workshops as needed

Preferred Credentials and Experience:

• Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
• Valid OT license for the state of Virginia (or eligibility for licensure)
• Previous experience working in school settings and/or pediatric home health highly valued
• Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
• Ability to tailor interventions and work flexibly within diverse educational settings

The assignment aligns with the school calendar, generally following Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM, while allowing flexibility to accommodate personal needs and commitments.
