Job Description
Step into a rewarding opportunity shaping the educational journey of high school students in an ESN (Extensive Support Needs) environment. This full-time, contract Special Education position is based near South San Francisco and is available immediately through the end of January, with the potential for extension through the full school year. You’ll be covering a leave and playing a vital role in providing compassionate, specialized support for learners with moderate to severe needs.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid, active California credential in Moderate/Severe Special Education (required)
- Experience with high school students in ESN or comparable settings preferred
- Strong ability to develop and implement IEPs tailored to individual student requirements
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills for working with families, staff, and multidisciplinary teams
- Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability in dynamic classroom environments
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to high school students with moderate/severe disabilities
- Assess student abilities and adapt materials, methods, and the environment to promote student learning and independence
- Develop and implement effective classroom management strategies
- Write and manage Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in accordance with state and federal guidelines
- Collaborate closely with fellow educators, aides, therapists, and families to ensure comprehensive student support
- Encourage social-emotional development and life skills relevant to each student's needs
