An opportunity is available for a Pharmacist to support inpatient hospital pharmacy operations within the Acute Care Pharmacy at a well-established medical facility in Springfield, Missouri. This contract role offers a vital position ensuring medication accuracy, safety, and efficient pharmacy workflow in a fast-paced acute care environment.

Location: Springfield, Missouri (1235 E Cherokee St)

Schedule:

  • 1st Shift: 10-hour shifts, 7 days on/7 days off
  • 2nd Shift: 10-hour shifts, 7 days on/7 days off
  • 3rd Shift (Nights): 7 days on/7 days off

Assignment Length: 13 weeks with a strong possibility of extension

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize EPIC system for medication verification and preparation
  • Verify medication products including IVs, premade IVs, creams, insulin pens, code and crash carts, and prepack items
  • Coordinate workflow within the central pharmacy to ensure timely and accurate dispensing
  • Oversee pharmacy technicians’ workflow, redirecting tasks as necessary to maintain efficiency
  • Ensure code carts and crash carts are correctly restocked and ready for emergency use

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Missouri Pharmacist licensure required
  • Minimum of 1 year of pharmacy experience; new graduates considered
  • Familiarity with EPIC electronic medical record system
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic hospital setting

Training: 2-3 weeks of hands-on training primarily focused on product verification and process acclimation

Work Environment:

  • The central pharmacy team includes 5 pharmacists and 10 technicians during day shifts and 2 pharmacists with 5-6 technicians on evening shifts
  • This position is the primary pharmacist for overseeing central pharmacy operations, distinct from order review roles performed by other pharmacists
  • While you will direct technicians’ activities, supervisory responsibilities are not part of this role
