Job Description
This role focuses on MIG and flux core welding and fabrication of truck beds and related assemblies using A36 mild steel and other metals. You will read blueprints, build parts from concept to completion, and work in a job shop environment alongside another fabricator, using overhead cranes and forklifts to complete high-quality assemblies.
Responsibilities
- Weld and fabricate truck beds and related components using MIG and flux core processes on A36 mild steel.
- Fabricate and assemble structural and accessory components such as headboards, boom racks, toolbox brackets, cone holders, and other items as required.
- Read and interpret blueprints and prints to weld steel parts and build assemblies from concept to completion.
- Gather materials, prepare workpieces, and fabricate parts according to specifications and prints.
- Work in a shared fabrication bay with another team member to complete welding and assembly tasks efficiently and safely.
- Operate overhead cranes and forklifts to move and position materials, parts, and assemblies.
- Lift materials and components weighing up to 50 pounds as part of daily fabrication and assembly activities.
- Use basic hand tools and measuring devices, including tape measures, to ensure accurate layout and fit-up of parts.
- Perform general shop clean-up and maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work area.
- Adapt to a job shop environment, working on varied projects and custom fabrications as production needs change.
Essential Skills
- 3–5 years of welding experience OR completion of welding school or formal welding training.
- Proficiency in MIG welding and flux core welding, particularly on steel materials.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and prints accurately.
- Experience welding on both steel and aluminum materials.
- Capability to take a print, gather materials, and fabricate parts from concept to completion without close supervision.
- Experience working in a job shop environment with varied and custom fabrication projects.
- Ability to operate a forklift safely and effectively.
- Possession of basic hand tools required for welding and fabrication work.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform hands-on fabrication tasks throughout the shift.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with assembly of fabricated components and truck bed structures.
- Knowledge of overhead crane operation in a fabrication setting.
- Skill in using hand tools and measuring devices such as tape measures for precise layout and fit-up.
- Exposure to aluminum welding, stainless steel welding, and general steel welding.
- Familiarity with TIG welding processes is a plus.
- Comfort working with prints from initial concept through final assembly.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality welds and fabrications.

Work Environment
You will work primarily on first shift, Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., averaging about 50 hours per week, with voluntary weekend work available. The environment is a job shop setting with varied projects, where you share a fabrication bay with one other person and regularly use overhead cranes, forklifts, and basic hand tools. The facility is hands-on and production-oriented, requiring adherence to safety practices and readiness for physically active work throughout the shift
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Napoleon, OH.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $26.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
