Job Title: Inventory Specialist

Job Description

The Inventory Specialist accurately receives, stores, issues, and tracks materials and tools within a climate-controlled manufacturing environment. This role uses forklifts, overhead cranes, ERP systems, and RF scanners to maintain precise inventory records, support production needs, and ensure that all incoming and outgoing shipments meet quality and documentation requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and count stock items, ensuring all materials are accurately recorded in inventory systems.
  • Stock items using identification tags, stamps, electric marking tools, or other labeling equipment to maintain clear and organized labeling.
  • Store items in warehouse, tool rooms, supply rooms, or other designated areas in a safe and orderly manner.
  • Inspect incoming parts and materials, documenting any damage, shortages, or nonconformance to specifications.
  • Verify the accuracy of incoming and outgoing shipments against documentation and inventory records.
  • Run inventory reports to monitor stock levels and support planning and replenishment activities.
  • Prepare work orders, bills of lading, and shipping orders to support shipping and receiving operations.
  • Dispatch parts and materials to the appropriate departments while maintaining accurate inventory levels.
  • Issue tools, equipment, and supplies to internal personnel and record all transactions in the system.
  • Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas to ensure a safe and orderly work environment.
  • Report broken or damaged tools and equipment promptly so that repairs or replacements can be arranged.
  • Load and unload materials using a sit-down forklift in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Operate an overhead crane to move heavy or bulky items as needed, following all safety procedures.
  • Support order pulling and picking activities to fulfill internal and external orders accurately and on time.
  • Use ERP systems and RF scanners to record inventory movements and ensure data accuracy.

Essential Skills

  • At least 2 years of experience operating a forklift in a manufacturing or similar environment.
  • Proficiency using ERP systems and RF scanners for inventory tracking and transaction processing.
  • Hands-on experience with order pulling and order picking in a warehouse or manufacturing setting.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment with established safety and quality procedures.
  • Ability to operate a sit-down forklift safely to load, unload, and move materials.
  • Ability to operate or learn to operate an overhead crane in accordance with safety guidelines.
  • Strong attention to detail for counting, labeling, and verifying inventory and shipments.
  • Ability to prepare and handle documentation such as work orders, bills of lading, and shipping orders.
  • Capability to inspect materials for damage, shortages, and nonconformance to specifications.
  • Ability to maintain clean and organized storage, tool, and supply areas.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with heavy forklift operations, including equipment up to approximately 36,000 pounds capacity.
  • Experience operating a reach truck in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience operating a cherry picker for order selection and material handling.
  • Additional experience with overhead crane operation beyond basic usage.
  • Familiarity with shipping processes and documentation in a manufacturing or distribution setting.

Work Environment

The role is based in a climate-controlled manufacturing environment that supports comfort and consistency throughout the year. The position involves working around production areas, warehouses, and tool or supply rooms, using equipment such as sit-down forklifts, overhead cranes, RF scanners, and ERP systems. Multiple openings are available across shifts, including seven positions on first shift (5:00 AM – 2:30 PM) and one position on second shift (2:00 PM – 12:30 AM). The work involves physical material handling, equipment operation, and movement throughout storage and production areas while adhering to established safety practices.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cypress, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
