Job Title: CNC Machinist

Job Description

This role operates and sets up CNC production machines to manufacture precision components according to engineering specifications. Working under general supervision and following established procedures, you will use CNC lathes and mills to perform cutting, drilling, milling, reaming, boring, dicing, and grinding of nonmetallic workpieces while ensuring quality, safety, and production efficiency.

Pay: $30 - $40/hr + overtime available

Shift: Second (2nd) shift: 3:00pm - 1:30am, Monday - Thursday

Responsibilities

  • Operate and set up CNC lathes and CNC mills to machine production parts using existing tooling and fixtures.
  • Use geometry and trigonometry to configure machines and cutting tools to exact measurements that match engineering blueprints.
  • Start and stop machines as needed to maintain quality, safety, and production efficiency.
  • Perform machine set-ups, tool offsets, program edits, and adjustments to maintain consistent product quality.
  • Maintain proper lubrication and fluid levels to ensure safe and efficient machine operation.
  • Remove scrap material from machines to maintain a safe and efficient work area.
  • Report equipment or tooling malfunctions to the appropriate lead or supervisor.
  • Develop and prove out new CNC machining programs to produce complex components in accordance with engineering blueprints.
  • Develop and prove out new procedures and improve existing processes for machining complex components.
  • Design and develop new tooling and fixturing as required to support production needs.
  • Document procedures for all machining and related processes in a clear and accurate manner.
  • Inspect in-process work using accepted procedures and precision measuring tools.
  • Submit parts for in-process inspection according to established quality procedures.
  • Make necessary machine and process adjustments to maintain product quality and adherence to specifications.
  • Follow all established safety rules, procedures, and regulations at all times.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support production and team goals.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience operating CNC lathes and CNC milling machines in a production environment.
  • Experience working with Fanuc or similar CNC controls for program editing and setup.
  • in grinding and other secondary machining processes.
  • Ability to develop new tooling and fixtures to improve manufacturability and efficiency.
  • Ability to document machining procedures and process steps clearly for repeatability and training.
  • Comfort working with nonmetallic materials and precision components.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high quality standards.
  • Ability to work independently under general supervision while collaborating effectively with the production and quality teams.

Work Environment

The role is based in a clean, organized manufacturing facility focused on precision machining. You will work with CNC lathes, CNC mills, grinding equipment, and precision measurement devices such as calipers and micrometers, often with Fanuc or similar CNC controls. The work involves close detail inspection, microscope use, and frequent handling of small parts and tools. You can expect a production-focused environment with established safety rules and procedures, where maintaining machine lubrication, fluid levels, and housekeeping around equipment is essential to safe and efficient operations. Dress will be appropriate for a manufacturing and machining setting, including any required personal protective equipment in accordance with safety standards.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Middleborough, MA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $31.25 - $31.25/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
