  • The Engine Development Technician supports the Engineering Community in the development of hardware and calibrations for internal combustion engines. This role provides the information to make decisions that affect quality, durability, and performance the customer will experience.
  • As a Technician, the individual will report to the Group Leader assigned to his/her assigned area of responsibility.
  • They will receive daily assignments through their Team Leader and work side by side with the Test Engineers, Calibrators, and Suppliers to support the testing requirements in the Engine Dyno Test Cells.
  • The Technician will be responsible for mechanical work and maintenance of the test article, executing the test plan
  • Responsibilities are a mix of standardized work and unique situations that require a level of innovation and analytical thinking.

  • Prepares engines and installs various apparatus and control instrumentation used in test cells for prototype or production engine testing. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision.
  • In a 24/7 operation, follows prescribed test sequences and test parameters as specified in the work order or line-up.
  • Monitors the cells during the running of a test, checking temperature, oil pressure, and other readings. Monitors controls and instruments and record test data. Monitor strip charts which checks heat, vacuum, temperature, fuel, air readings, etc.
  • Performs engine checks to ensure there are no fuel or oil leaks or engine malfunctions.
  • Maintains safe and clean test cells, including removal of oil spills, cleaning floors and windows, etc. Keeps control rooms clean and presentable.
  • Maintains proper documentation of engine and test procedures relevant to test parameters.
  • Participates in the installation of engines or parts to be tested. Connect valves, hydraulic, mechanical or electrical controls and indicating instrumentation. Ensure the line hook-ups are orderly and safe.

This is a Contract position based out of Pontiac, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $26.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
