Responsibilities

  • Sample and process all molds received by the company, making sound decisions about tool condition and validating molding processes before releasing them to mass production.
  • Run and monitor an initial four-hour production period for each new tool to verify process consistency and that parts meet functional requirements.
  • Supervise approximately five team members, providing daily direction of work across all shifts and planning coverage to address labor shortages when needed.
  • Lead by example on the production floor to ensure safety, quality, and productivity standards are consistently achieved.
  • Coach, train, and, when necessary, discipline team members in accordance with company policies and situational needs.
  • Complete performance appraisals at designated intervals and review results with each associate, providing constructive feedback and development guidance.
  • Provide training to Set-up Technicians and assist them with the set-up of new molds and auxiliary equipment.
  • Troubleshoot molding-related issues and collaborate with molding personnel to resolve process problems and implement effective countermeasures across all processes.
  • Oversee the condition of all tools, recommending repairs or modifications and coordinating preventive maintenance planning, scheduling, and work with outside tool shops.
  • Evaluate tools upon receipt from repair, coordinating with quality teams when needed to confirm readiness for production.
  • Track alarms, production efficiency, and labor hours on a daily basis and prepare documented reports for production leadership.
  • Collaborate with engineering and maintenance departments to recommend auxiliary equipment required for existing or new manufacturing processes.
  • Support continuous improvement activities within the production department, contributing ideas and implementing improvements to processes and workflows.
  • Assist in implementing training programs within the production department to support continuous growth and development of associates, including hands-on training on the production floor.
  • Help maintain and improve machine and equipment layouts within the production department to optimize safety, efficiency, and workflow.
  • Assist with new project planning from pre-production through ramp-up to mass production, ensuring molding processes are robust and well-documented.
  • Participate in the APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) process and close action items related to molding activities.
  • Interact and communicate effectively with management, engineers, maintenance, operators, quality control, and customers on molding-related issues and initiatives.
  • Provide training support, technical support, respond to machine alarms, and oversee mold set-up and production start-up on the production floor.
  • Perform other activities and projects as assigned by management to support departmental and company objectives.

  • Ability to process multiple types and various grades of engineering resins such as PP, POM, ABS, and Nylon.
  • Capability to validate molding processes and ensure parts meet functional and quality requirements before mass production.
  • Competence in tracking and reporting alarms, production efficiency, and labor hours.
  • Ability to coordinate with engineering, maintenance, quality, and external tool shops regarding tooling condition, repairs, and auxiliary equipment needs.
  • Willingness and ability to work 3rd shift (Monday–Friday, 11:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.).
