Janitorial Lead - 2nd Shift

Location: Virginia Beach, VA

Pay: $18.00/hour

Shift: Monday-Friday, 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM

Employment Type: Full-Time

Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and motivated Janitorial Lead to oversee facility housekeeping activities and help maintain a clean, safe, and organized manufacturing environment. In this role, you will perform hands-on cleaning duties while providing guidance and support to janitorial team members, ensuring cleaning standards, safety procedures, and facility expectations are consistently met.

This position is ideal for someone with janitorial or custodial experience who is looking to take on additional leadership responsibilities in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities
  • Lead daily janitorial operations throughout manufacturing, warehouse, and common areas.
  • Assign and coordinate cleaning tasks to ensure all areas are maintained according to company standards.
  • Perform general cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing floors, and maintaining production areas.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, break rooms, locker rooms, offices, and other shared spaces.
  • Empty trash and recycling containers and maintain organized waste collection areas.
  • Conduct routine inspections of assigned areas to ensure cleanliness, safety, and compliance with housekeeping standards.
  • Identify and report facility maintenance concerns, safety hazards, and equipment issues.
  • Train and support new janitorial team members on cleaning procedures, safety requirements, and best practices.
  • Monitor cleaning supply inventory and communicate replenishment needs to management.
  • Collaborate with production and warehouse teams to coordinate housekeeping activities without disrupting operations.
  • Assist with special cleaning projects, facility improvements, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Follow and enforce all company safety policies, housekeeping standards, and cleaning procedures.
Required Qualifications
  • Previous janitorial, custodial, housekeeping, or industrial cleaning experience.
  • Prior experience leading, training, or coordinating the work of others preferred.
  • Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers, mops, brooms, and other janitorial tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean and organized facility.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety practices and proper cleaning procedures.
  • Ability to lift, carry, bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a manufacturing, warehouse, or production environment.
  • Familiarity with cleaning around industrial equipment, including hydraulic and pneumatic machinery.
  • Experience with inventory monitoring and supply management.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing production needs.

Work Environment

This position is based in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing facility where temperatures may become hot during the summer months. Employees work around polymer molding, assembly, and hydraulic/pneumatic manufacturing equipment in a fast-paced production setting. Candidates should be comfortable being on their feet for most of the shift and moving throughout the facility as needed.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Virginia Beach, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
