Job DescriptionThe Field Maintenance Mechanic supports the installation, repair, maintenance, and ongoing performance of specialized filtration and separation equipment at customer sites throughout the agricultural and processing industries. This role is focused on hands-on mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting, including conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, rotating equipment, and structural repairs. The ideal candidate has a strong mechanical aptitude, enjoys solving problems in the field, and is comfortable traveling to customer sites to perform service, repairs, and equipment upgrades.
Responsibilities- Perform mechanical repairs, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance on industrial equipment in both shop and field environments.
- Install, inspect, align, and service conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, motors, and other rotating equipment.
- Support equipment start-ups, commissioning activities, and operational testing at customer facilities.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical failures to minimize downtime and maintain equipment reliability.
- Perform welding, fabrication, and light structural modifications as needed to support repairs and installations.
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, manuals, and technical documentation.
- Conduct equipment inspections and document findings, repair recommendations, and completed work.
- Collaborate with customers, contractors, and internal teams to ensure projects are completed safely and on schedule.
- Maintain a strong commitment to workplace safety and follow company and customer safety procedures.
- Travel to customer sites throughout the Midwest and other domestic locations to support service and maintenance activities.
- Assist with equipment assembly, rebuilds, and repairs at the Missouri Valley facility when not traveling.
- Provide professional customer service and technical support while representing the company in the field.
- Minimum 2 years of industrial maintenance, field service, millwright, or mechanical repair experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, pulleys, chains, rotating equipment, and power transmission systems.
- Welding and fabrication experience, including MIG and stick welding.
- Proven troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose mechanical equipment issues.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical manuals.
- Experience performing preventative maintenance and equipment inspections.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in field environments.
- Effective communication skills with customers and internal teams.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel approximately 50-75% as business needs require.
- Millwright or industrial maintenance background preferred.
- Experience working in corn wet milling, dry milling, ethanol, food processing, manufacturing, or other industrial environments.
- Familiarity with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Experience aligning pumps, motors, and rotating equipment.
- Rigging, equipment installation, and machinery moving experience is a plus.
- Ability to operate shop tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment safely.
- Forklift, aerial lift, or rigging certifications are beneficial but not required.
- Strong customer-facing skills and the ability to build positive working relationships.

Work EnvironmentThis role involves approximately 50-75% travel throughout the Midwest, with additional domestic travel as needed. When not traveling, you will work at the Missouri Valley facility supporting equipment builds, repairs, rebuilds, and preparation for customer projects. Work is performed in industrial manufacturing, processing, and agricultural facilities and requires hands-on mechanical work with conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, rotating equipment, hydraulic systems, and welding/fabrication activities. The environment is fast-paced, safety-focused, and highly hands-on, making it ideal for mechanically inclined individuals who enjoy working in the field and solving equipment challenges.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Missouri Valley, IA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $72800.00 - $85280.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
