Job Description
The Quality Inspector performs routine and repetitive inspection procedures to ensure that products meet defined quality standards at various stages of production. This role focuses on inspecting in-process and finished assemblies and sub-assemblies, following established procedures and visual aids to determine product acceptance or rejection, while supporting efficient and safe manufacturing operations.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine and repetitive inspection procedures to verify quality levels at multiple stages of the production process.
- Inspect in-process and finished production assemblies and sub-assemblies to ensure conformance to established quality assurance standards.
- Read and follow visual aids, engineering change notices, and standardized operating procedures to determine acceptance or rejection of products.
- Follow standardized and routine written directions and visual aids for assigned quality assurance inspection operations.
- Conduct visual inspections of products using tools such as magnifying glasses, lot sampling methods, first article checks, and automated optical inspection (AOI) machines.
- Enter standardized inspection results into the computerized MES system using simple keystrokes to record pass or failure status for each board.
- Assist in the operation of the manufacturing line while maintaining high quality standards and supporting efficiency and excellence in production activities.
- Adhere to all safety and health rules and regulations associated with the position and as directed by the supervisor.
- Comply with and follow all procedures outlined in the company security policy.
- Work under the close supervision of a manufacturing supervisor or designated supervisor and follow guidance to complete inspection tasks accurately.
- Support continuous improvement efforts by consistently applying quality control methods and reporting non-conformances according to established procedures.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support the overall effectiveness and quality of the manufacturing process.
Essential Skills
- Experience performing quality inspection and quality control activities in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Ability to conduct final inspections and quality inspections on assemblies and sub-assemblies.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting visual aids, engineering change notices, and established operating procedures.
- Capability to perform PCB inspections and use inspection tools such as magnifying glasses and AOI machines.
- Familiarity with SMT (surface mount technology) processes and SMT machines in relation to inspection tasks.
- Ability to use lot sampling methods and first article checks to verify product quality.
- Basic computer skills to enter standardized information into a MES (Manufacturing Execution System) using simple keystrokes.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when determining product acceptance or rejection.
- Ability to follow standardized written directions and routine procedures consistently.
- Commitment to following safety, health, and security policies and procedures at all times.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Background in manufacturing or production operations, with exposure to quality assurance practices.
- Understanding of quality control principles and methods used in electronic or PCB assembly environments.
- Ability to work effectively under close supervision and collaborate with supervisors and team members.
- Willingness to assist in overall manufacturing line operations while maintaining quality and efficiency.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage repetitive tasks while maintaining focus on quality.
- Good communication skills to report findings and follow instructions clearly.

Work Environment
This role operates in a manufacturing and production environment focused on electronic and PCB assemblies. You work on and around SMT machines, AOI equipment, and other inspection tools such as magnifying glasses, following standardized visual aids and written procedures. The position involves routine, repetitive inspection tasks performed at workstations and along the manufacturing line, with close supervision to ensure accuracy and adherence to processes. You use a computerized MES system to record inspection results, and you follow established safety, health, and security rules at all times. Work is structured and process-driven, emphasizing consistency, reliability, and compliance with quality standards.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of San Jose, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.55 - $33.41/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
