Job Title: Line Lead – Injection Molding
Job Description
The Line Lead oversees daily production activities on designated injection molding lines, ensuring that all operations meet safety, quality, and efficiency standards. This role directs and supports a team of machine operators and packers, coordinates workflow on the production line, and assists with basic troubleshooting and preventive maintenance to keep equipment running smoothly.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee daily operations on assigned injection molding production lines to meet safety, quality, and efficiency targets.
- Direct, guide, and support a team of operators and packers, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and on time.
- Train team members on proper machine operation, production procedures, and quality standards.
- Monitor production processes, identify issues, and perform basic troubleshooting on molds and machines to minimize downtime.
- Assist with preventive maintenance activities on injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment as directed.
- Use measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers to verify product dimensions and ensure parts meet blueprint specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints and work instructions to set up and run production jobs correctly.
- Coordinate material flow and packaging activities to maintain a smooth and efficient production line.
- Promote and enforce safe work practices on the production floor, addressing hazards and ensuring compliance with safety guidelines.
- Adapt to changing production needs, including working different shifts, overtime, or weekends when required to support operations.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in injection molding or plastics manufacturing.
- Proven ability to guide, train, and motivate small production teams.
- Basic knowledge of injection molding machines, auxiliary equipment, and resins.
- Experience using calipers and micrometers to perform dimensional checks.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and related production documentation.
- Comfort with machine operating and basic troubleshooting on production equipment.
- Understanding of preventive maintenance concepts in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 35 pounds as part of daily duties.
- Flexibility to work different shifts, overtime, or weekends as needed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Previous injection mold experience beyond the minimum requirements.
- Comfortable in production line work within a manufacturing setting.
- Experience operating forklifts in a production environment.
- Familiarity with general production processes and quality checks in plastics or related industries.

Work Environment
The role is based in a brand-new, clean manufacturing building that provides a modern and well-maintained production floor. The current opening is on second shift, running from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., with the expectation of flexibility for overtime or weekend work as needed. The environment involves working around injection molding machines, auxiliary equipment, and standard production tools, with regular standing and some lifting required. Attire is typical for a manufacturing setting, emphasizing safety and practicality while working on the production line.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Elgin, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $28.00 - $34.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
