Job Description

The Production Supervisor oversees day-to-day manufacturing operations, leading a team of 20–25 production employees in a hands-on role that combines floor leadership with administrative and reporting responsibilities. This position focuses on meeting productivity, quality, cost, delivery, and safety targets while driving continuous improvement, supporting team development, and ensuring efficient use of resources across all production lines.

Responsibilities

  • Begin each day with a shift handoff meeting to review status, priorities, and any issues from the previous shift.
  • Manage and provide daily leadership to a team of approximately 20–25 production employees.
  • Learn and become proficient in all four production positions on the floor to effectively support and guide team members.
  • Work in a hands-on supervisory capacity, spending about 80% of the time on the production floor and 20% on computer and administrative tasks.
  • Update and maintain employee time cards on a daily basis to ensure accurate records.
  • Direct the activities of team leads and production technicians on the shift to meet productivity, quality, cost, delivery, safety, and performance targets.
  • Enforce company policies and procedures consistently across the team.
  • Serve as the lead onsite contact in the absence of production leadership, reporting daily on plant KPIs, safety, production status, and related metrics.
  • Ensure proper management and organization of the production facility through effective 5S programs.
  • Develop, train, advise, support, and counsel group leaders and technicians to build skills and improve performance.
  • Implement tools and programs that streamline and simplify processes to increase the flexibility and efficiency of department management.
  • Plan and monitor manpower requirements for manufacturing lines, optimizing labor efficiencies across the department.
  • Lead problem-solving and troubleshooting efforts on each production line and develop recovery and action plans to resolve issues.
  • Assist management with overall planning activities, including capacity planning and new product launches.
  • Monitor personnel issues such as absenteeism, tardiness, and accident frequency, and ensure appropriate corrective actions are taken when necessary.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and other departments to improve processes, meet scrap reduction targets, and address customer concerns.
  • Create, develop, and maintain documentation used on the manufacturing floor to support standardized work and process consistency.

Essential Skills

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 5–10 years of experience as a production supervisor.
  • Production supervision experience within automotive manufacturing.
  • Proven experience managing teams of 20–25 employees in a production environment.
  • Strong supervision and production management skills.
  • Demonstrated experience with continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Ability to use and interpret key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive performance.
  • Hands-on problem-solving and troubleshooting skills in a manufacturing setting.
  • Experience with safety practices and standards in production operations.
  • Familiarity with ISO-related processes or quality systems.
  • Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office for reporting, tracking, and documentation.
  • Strong management and leadership skills, including the ability to train, coach, and develop team members.
  • Ability to enforce policies and maintain accountability across the team.
  • Organizational skills to support effective 5S implementation on the production floor.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Associate degree or bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is preferred.
  • Experience with injection molding or plastics manufacturing is a plus.
  • Knowledge of kaizen and other structured continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience working with automated equipment in a production environment.
  • Ability to create and maintain clear, accurate manufacturing documentation.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, metrics-driven environment focused on productivity, quality, and safety.

Work Environment

The role is based in a brand-new, non-climate-controlled but very clean manufacturing facility with extensive automated equipment. Work is primarily on first shift, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with the expectation of being open to weekend work. Supervisors and managers rotate weekends and must be willing to work every other weekend as part of the leadership team. A 10% shift premium is offered for off-shift work. The environment is structured, safety-focused, and fast-paced, with a strong emphasis on organization, 5S, and efficient production processes.

This is a Permanent position based out of Bowling Green, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $85000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

-PTO will be prorated based off start date and can use it after 90 days -In January of the new year they will get 120 hours -Benefits will start 1st day of the following month from start date -401k with 6% company match -Perfect attendance bonus-Earn an extra $1 on top of pay and includes over time-starts right away
