This full-time Industrial Painter role focuses on mixing and applying a variety of industrial coatings, including acrylic enamels and two-part acrylic urethanes, to achieve high-quality finishes on metal and other surfaces. You work in a paint booth environment performing detailed surface preparation, spray painting, and touch-up work while maintaining productivity and quality standards. The position requires a strong team-first mindset, adherence to safety regulations, and comfort working with industrial chemicals and equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Present a team-first attitude and demonstrate respect for the company’s mission, vision, and values in all daily activities.
  • Maintain established productivity and quality standards while completing painting and prep tasks.
  • Mix standard paints, including acrylic enamels and two-part acrylic urethanes, to the proper color and consistency according to specifications.
  • Prepare surfaces for painting by grinding, sanding, power washing, degreasing, and removing splatter and rust.
  • Mask areas accurately to protect surfaces that should not be painted and ensure clean, defined lines.
  • Set up and adjust spray equipment, including air pressures and spray nozzles, based on paint type and required finish.
  • Apply paint using spray guns in a paint booth environment, achieving uniform coverage and proper film thickness.
  • Perform brush painting and touch-up work where indicated to correct defects and ensure a consistent finish.
  • Carry out general housekeeping and maintenance of paint spray equipment, booths, and respirators in accordance with department health and safety regulations.
  • Operate a forklift to move parts, materials, and equipment safely within the facility.
  • Monitor and maintain the availability of painting materials by anticipating requirements and supporting inventory control.
  • Follow all safety procedures when working with chemicals, paints, and industrial equipment, including proper use of personal protective equipment.
  • Support a clean, organized, and efficient work area to promote safety and productivity.
Essential Skills
  • Proven experience in industrial painting, including paint preparation and spray application in a paint booth environment.
  • Ability to mix acrylic enamels and two-part acrylic urethanes to proper color and consistency.
  • Strong skills in surface preparation, including grinding, sanding, rust removal, power washing, and degreasing.
  • Proficiency in operating spray guns and adjusting air pressure and nozzle settings for different paints and finishes.
  • Capability to perform brush painting and detailed touch-up work to meet quality standards.
  • Experience maintaining paint spray equipment, booths, and respirators in line with health and safety regulations.
  • Ability to operate a forklift to move parts and equipment safely.
  • Comfort working with industrial paints, chemicals, and related safety procedures.
  • Strong team-first mindset and commitment to productivity and quality standards.
  • Ability to pass a pulmonary function test and respirator fit test, as required for safe respirator use.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in industrial paint prep and industrial painting environments.
  • Familiarity with paint booths and industrial paint systems.
  • Understanding of basic inventory handling and material availability planning.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Work Environment

This is a first-shift position working Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in an industrial paint booth and shop environment. You regularly work with spray guns, industrial paints, chemicals, and surface preparation tools such as grinders and power washers. The role involves operating forklifts and handling inventory in a production setting. Personal protective equipment is required, including steel-toe footwear and safety glasses. A pulmonary function test and respirator fit test are required to ensure safe use of respiratory protection. The environment focuses on safety, cleanliness, and adherence to health and safety regulations while maintaining a steady, consistent workflow.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hixson, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
