Job Description

Job Description
  • Second Shift: Friday through Sunday 5:30pm to 6:00am
  • Pay: $33.65
  • Location: Brighton, CO

Position Summary

We are seeking a logistics coordinator to support real-time operational flow management, execution control, and performance oversight within a high-volume sort center operating under a 4PL model.

In this role, you will represent us on the warehouse floor and within the control function. You will monitor freight flow, balance volume, coordinate resources, identify bottlenecks, and proactively resolve operational issues to ensure service-level and network commitments are met.

This position is focused on flow orchestration, system visibility, performance monitoring, and execution alignment, rather than direct labor management.

Key Responsibilities

Sort Center Flow Control & Execution

  • Monitor and manage real-time freight flow across inbound, sortation, and outbound operations.
  • Balance volume across lanes, zones, and sort destinations to prevent congestion or capacity gaps.
  • Execute flow-control strategies based on sort plans, departure schedules, and network commitments.
  • Dynamically adjust priorities based on volume fluctuations, service levels, and operational constraints.
  • Support smooth shift start-ups, peak execution, and shift handoffs.

Real-Time Operational Monitoring

  • Track throughput, dwell time, backlog, trailer status, departure adherence, and other operational KPIs.
  • Monitor sortation systems, conveyors, scanning compliance, and exception flow.
  • Identify bottlenecks, misroutes, and capacity constraints and initiate corrective action.
  • Ensure system-driven plans from WMS/TMS align with physical execution on the floor.

4PL Oversight & Coordination

  • Serve as the primary contact for 4PL Sort Leads, Area Leads, and Control Room personnel.
  • Validate staffing levels, lane coverage, and resource allocation against planned volume.
  • Direct flow adjustments through 4PL leadership to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Address execution gaps and ensure adherence to sort plans, SOPs, and KPIs.
  • Escalate critical disruptions, service risks, and recurring performance issues.

Departure & Service-Level Management

  • Ensure outbound loads depart on time and meet network cutoff requirements.
  • Monitor trailer build progress and staging readiness.
  • Coordinate recovery plans for late volume, missed connections, or capacity issues.
  • Prioritize critical shipments and customer commitments to protect service levels.

Safety, Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure operations comply with QSHE standards and site safety requirements.
  • Monitor safe practices around sortation equipment, dock operations, and material handling areas.
  • Immediately address unsafe conditions or practices.
  • Support incident reporting, investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Assist with audits, customer visits, and compliance reviews.

Issue Management & Problem Solving

  • Identify flow disruptions, system issues, and operational inefficiencies in real time.
  • Perform first-level troubleshooting and coordinate with IT, engineering, maintenance, and planning teams.
  • Drive rapid response to minimize service impact and restore normal flow.
  • Support root-cause analysis for recurring operational or sortation issues.
  • Ensure critical issues are escalated appropriately and in a timely manner.

Performance Tracking & Communication

  • Track and validate KPIs including throughput, scan rates, mis-sort rates, dwell time, and on-time departures.
  • Participate in tier meetings, control tower calls, and shift handoffs.
  • Maintain accurate logs of operational issues, decisions, and outcomes.
  • Provide structured performance feedback to 4PL leadership.
  • Communicate clearly across shifts and departments to maintain operational continuity.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve freight flow, facility layout, sort logic, and operational processes.
  • Support implementation of process improvements, system enhancements, and updated SOPs.
  • Promote consistent execution of standardized work across shifts.
  • Contribute to peak planning, capacity modeling, and process optimization initiatives.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2–5 years of experience in warehouse, logistics, sort center, or distribution operations.
  • Experience working in a high-volume, time-sensitive environment such as a sort center, parcel hub, cross-dock, or distribution facility.
  • Strong understanding of sortation flow, dock operations, freight movement, and outbound scheduling.
  • Ability to influence and coordinate operational outcomes without direct supervisory authority.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and real-time decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and respond quickly to changing operational conditions.

Preferred:

  • Experience working within a 3PL or 4PL operating model.
  • Experience in a high-volume sort center, hub, or cross-dock environment.
  • Familiarity with WMS, TMS, sortation systems, and control tower tools.
  • Understanding of linehaul operations and transportation network flow.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, continuous improvement, or process optimization experience.
  • Experience managing peak-season or significant volume surges.
