Job Title: Medical Scribe

Job Description

As a Medical Scribe, you will document physician visits in the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system in real-time, capturing accurate and thorough medical information during each patient encounter. You will scribe for multiple physicians, adapting to individual documentation styles and preferences while maintaining consistency and quality. You will also record patient histories, exam findings, assessments, and treatment plans as directed by the physician, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all medical documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Support a high volume of patient care, assisting physicians in managing a clinic that may see 80–100 patients per day.
  • Perform precise data entry related to ophthalmology and retina care, following clinic protocols and EMR standards.
  • Collaborate closely with clinic staff and a team of other scribes to support efficient clinic flow and patient throughput.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all healthcare documentation and privacy standards.
  • Travel between assigned clinics, providing consistent documentation support across multiple locations.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in medical assisting and medical terminology.
  • Experience with patient care and EMR systems.
  • Prior on-site scribing experience of at least 1 year.
  • Ability to perform accurate and efficient data entry.
  • BS/AS degree in a life science.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Ophthalmic experience preferred.
  • Strong multi-tasking abilities.
  • Driven personality.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of patient care.

Work Environment

The role involves working from Monday to Friday, with hours scheduled between 6:30 AM and 6:00 PM based on clinic needs. This is a float position with travel to nearby clinics three days a week, with transportation provided and travel time compensated. Training will occur at the admin building in the Galleria. The home clinic is in Sugarland, which is one of the busiest clinics in Houston. You will work with a team of 8-24 individuals, with each physician requiring 8 clinic staff. Expect a fast-paced environment, seeing 80-100 patients a day. The dress code is navy blue scrubs with short, groomed nails, and all hair must be tied back.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pearland, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.50 - $18.50/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
