Job Title: Forklift Operator / Warehouse Worker

Job Description

This role focuses on supporting daily warehouse operations by accurately receiving, storing, and shipping materials while following FIFO processes, freight procedures, and all safety guidelines. You will handle material movement throughout the facility, operate forklifts and RF scanners, and help maintain an organized and efficient warehouse environment.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and unload inbound shipments in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Verify materials against documentation and process incoming orders accurately.
  • Stock, store, and label inventory using appropriate methods and locations.
  • Pick, pack, and prepare customer orders for shipment using an RF scanner.
  • Inspect outbound orders to ensure accuracy, completeness, and proper packaging.
  • Process customer returns and report damaged or incorrect shipments to management.
  • Perform regular inventory checks and daily cycle counts to maintain accurate stock levels.
  • Move, replenish, and organize materials throughout the warehouse using forklifts and other material handling equipment.
  • Maintain overall organization and cleanliness of the warehouse to support safety and efficiency.
  • Ensure proper handling, palletizing, and storage of products to prevent damage.
  • Follow FIFO processes, shipping and receiving procedures, and all safety guidelines at all times.
  • Use warehouse management systems (WMS), RF scanners, and scan guns to complete order picking, stocking, and inventory tasks.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience in a warehouse environment.
  • Hands-on experience with order picking, shipping, receiving, and inventory counts.
  • Proficiency with pick and pack operations and preparing orders for shipment.
  • Experience using RF scanners and scan guns for order processing and inventory management.
  • Forklift experience on either sit-down or stand-up equipment.
  • Ability to perform palletizing, loading, unloading, and general material handling tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail to verify materials and ensure accurate order fulfillment.
  • Ability to follow FIFO processes, freight procedures, and safety guidelines consistently.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working with warehouse management systems (WMS).
  • stocking, picking, packing, and packaging in a distribution or warehouse setting.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
  • Strong organizational skills to maintain a clean and orderly warehouse.
  • Effective communication skills to report issues such as damaged shipments or discrepancies.

Work Environment

This position operates primarily Monday through Friday, with only occasional Saturday work, typically 2–3 days per year. You will work in a warehouse setting that involves regular material handling, forklift operation, order picking, stocking, shipping, and receiving activities. The environment uses RF scanners, scan guns, and warehouse management systems to manage inventory and orders. Dress code includes work-appropriate jeans and shirt, along with steel-toed boots to support safety and compliance with warehouse standards.

This is a Contract position based out of Grimes, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
