Job Description
A well-established commercial construction firm based in Connecticut is seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent. This senior-level role involves leading on-site operations for large renovation and new construction projects. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working autonomously, managing multiple trades, and taking full ownership of field execution.
Responsibilities- Manage all on-site construction activities from startup through project completion.
- Act as the primary on-site point of contact for subcontractors, inspectors, and ownership.
- Supervise approximately 20 on-site workers and coordinate 4–10 subcontractor trades based on project phase.
- Read, interpret, and build from construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Maintain and manage a construction schedule, adjusting as site conditions change.
- Utilize Procore to manage daily field reports and logs, progress photography, RFIs, submittals, project documentation, and communication.
- Oversee site logistics, sequencing, and quality control.
- Enforce job site safety standards and ensure OSHA compliance.
- Proactively identify issues and drive practical, timely solutions.
- Support early project setup and procurement coordination.
- Minimum 10 years of experience as a Construction Superintendent on commercial projects.
- Demonstrated ability to run projects independently with minimal oversight.
- Strong working knowledge of construction means, methods, and sequencing.
- Comfortable with construction technology; Procore experience required.
- OSHA 30 Certification preferred - OSHA 10 acceptable with willingness to obtain OSHA 30.
- Proficiency in Procore for daily logs, photographs, and RFIs.
- Experience with scheduling including three-week look ahead and schedule edits in Excel.
- Experience in ground-up construction for projects such as multi-family, assisted living, healthcare, and projects over $10 million.
- Proficiency in blueprint reading and subcontractor management.
- Experience with MS Project.
This position is onsite in West Hartford, with the project set to last 14-16 months, operating from 7 am to 3:30 pm. The office location is in Waterbury. The site will have 20 different subcontractors and an average of 50 people onsite. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $145000.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
