Job Description

This role focuses on welding and assembling large structural skids for modular cooling systems in a manufacturing shop environment. You will work primarily with I-beams and other structural components, performing high-quality MIG and flux core welds to build robust, large-scale skid structures. Success in this position requires strong structural welding experience and the ability to pass a 3G and 4G weld test on 1/2 inch carbon plate.

Responsibilities

  • Weld and assemble structural skids for modular cooling systems using MIG and flux core processes.
  • Perform structural welding on I-beams, channels, and other heavy steel components to create large skid assemblies.
  • Complete high-quality welds in vertical and overhead positions on 1/2 inch carbon plate and structural members.
  • Prepare materials for welding, including grinding, gouging, and cleaning surfaces to ensure proper weld integrity.
  • Interpret and follow work instructions, layouts, and basic fabrication requirements for skid structures.
  • Operate welding equipment and related tools safely and efficiently in a manufacturing shop environment.
  • Inspect welds visually and functionally to verify quality, accuracy, and adherence to specifications.
  • Collaborate with other shop personnel to move, position, and assemble structural components as needed.
  • Work within established production schedules on day or night shift, including some Saturdays as required.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety guidelines and shop procedures.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 5+ years of structural welding experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in MIG welding on carbon steel structural components.
  • Proficiency in flux core (fluxcore) welding processes on structural steel.
  • Ability to perform vertical and overhead welds confidently and consistently.
  • Experience with grinding and gouging to prepare and finish welds.
  • Demonstrated experience welding on skids and heavy structural assemblies.
  • Ability to pass a 3G and 4G weld test with MIG root and flux pass on 1/2 inch carbon plate.
  • Strong understanding of structural welding practices and weld quality standards.
  • Ability to work safely with welding equipment and in a busy manufacturing shop.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Prior experience working in a manufacturing shop environment.
  • Experience specifically with skid welding for industrial or modular systems.
  • Experience operating or working around overhead cranes for moving structural components.
  • Experience as a Structural Welder, MIG Welder, or Fluxcore Welder on I-beams, channels, and skid structures.

Why Work Here?

You join a production environment where your structural welding expertise directly contributes to building complex, large-scale systems. The role offers consistent full-time hours with the option of day or night shifts, providing flexibility for different schedules. You work with substantial structural projects that keep your skills sharp and allow you to take pride in tangible, high-impact results. The shop environment encourages teamwork, craftsmanship, and professional growth for experienced welders.

Work Environment

This position is based in a manufacturing shop that is non-climate controlled, so you work in real-world industrial conditions with varying temperatures. The environment involves heavy steel components, skids, I-beams, and channels, along with welding equipment, grinders, gouging tools, and overhead cranes. Shifts run Monday through Friday with some Saturdays as needed, with a day shift from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM and a night shift from approximately 4:30 PM to 2:00–3:00 AM.
