Job Description
The Deburring Finisher removes sharp edges and applies uniform finishes to machined metal parts using sanders, grinders, and specialized hand tools. This role ensures that precision components meet strict quality, safety, and finish specifications within a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform deburring operations on a variety of precision parts, including complex components, while consistently maintaining quality and production standards.
- Select appropriate deburring methods, tools, and equipment to achieve required finishes and meet production requirements.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, process sheets, routings, and travelers to understand specifications and work instructions.
- Use hand tools, sanders, grinders, and other deburring equipment to remove burrs, sharp edges, and imperfections from machined parts.
- Inspect parts visually and with quality inspection to verify that deburring and finishes meet quality expectations and specifications.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and communicate production issues related to deburring or finishing, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with workplace safety standards and company procedures.
- Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives by suggesting and implementing process improvements in deburring and finishing operations.
- Accurately complete production documentation, including shop floor data collection, and ensure all records are up to date and accurate.
- Follow all Quality Management System (QMS) requirements, standard operating procedures, and safety guidelines during daily activities.
- Collaborate effectively with team members, communicate clearly with supervisors and other departments, and assist with additional duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
- Hands-on experience with deburring operations on precision machined parts in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools, including sanders, grinders, and other deburring and finishing equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, process sheets, routings, and travelers.
- Strong blueprint reading skills to understand dimensions, tolerances, and finish requirements.
- Experience with quality inspection of machined parts to ensure deburring and finishes meet specifications.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes related to machining, metal finishing, and precision component production.
- Problem-solving skills to identify and correct deburring and finishing issues on the production floor.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement practices.
- Ability to accurately complete documentation and perform basic data entry for production and shop floor records.
- High attention to detail to ensure consistent quality and adherence to specifications.
- Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to established safety procedures and QMS requirements.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in metal finishing, polishing, and grinding in a precision manufacturing environment.
- Exposure to working with high-tolerance components used in industries such as medical technology, surgical robotics, and aerospace systems.
- Comfort working within a structured Quality Management System (QMS).
- Strong teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Willingness to support continuous improvement initiatives and adopt new processes or tools as needed.

Work Environment
This role is based in a precision contract manufacturing environment that specializes in high-tolerance components for applications such as surgical robotics, medical technology, and aerospace systems. The facility supports a wide range of operations, including CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, and precision assembly, providing exposure to advanced manufacturing technologies and processes. You will work around metal parts, deburring and finishing equipment, hand and power tools, and standard shop floor machinery. The environment emphasizes safety, organization, and cleanliness, with a strong focus on adherence to Quality Management System (QMS) requirements and workplace safety procedures. Work hours and shifts follow typical manufacturing schedules, and employees are expected to follow standard shop attire and appropriate personal protective equipment as required for a production floor setting.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr.
