This role operates multiple production machines, including laminators, rewinders, and roller machines, to cut, laminate, and layer paper products in an industrial manufacturing and paper converting environment. The machine operator sets up, runs, and monitors equipment, handles materials, performs basic troubleshooting, and supports general warehouse and manufacturing tasks while maintaining quality, safety, and productivity standards.

Responsibilities
- Operate and tend multiple machines such as laminators, rewinders, and roller machines to cut, laminate, and layer paper products.
- Hang rolls and load materials into machines, ensuring proper alignment and secure setup.
- Start, set up, adjust, slow down, and stop machines as needed to maintain safe and efficient operation.
- Record running conditions and process changes accurately to support consistent production quality.
- Monitor material and processes to ensure all products run within defined specifications.
- Care for tooling and equipment during the setup and operation of woven and paper materials.
- Inspect materials throughout the process to identify defects or inconsistencies and take corrective action.
- Pack, wrap, and label machined materials for shipping, ensuring accuracy and completeness of orders.
- Move products from storage to machines and transfer finished goods in boxes and on pallets to designated areas.
- Assist other operators and act as an operator assistant when needed to support overall production flow.
- Use a tape measure and scales to measure materials and weigh packages, applying basic math skills for accuracy.
- Read and follow work orders to understand job requirements, specifications, and production priorities.
- Perform minor troubleshooting on machines to resolve simple issues and maintain uptime.
- Maintain accurate production, inventory, and process records as required.
- Operate a forklift safely to move materials and products within the warehouse and production areas.
- Maintain housekeeping standards in the work area, keeping machines and surroundings clean and organized.
- Follow all safety requirements and procedures, including working safely around large industrial machinery.
- Support general warehouse and manufacturing duties, including cleaning up and helping in any area where needed.
- Collaborate with a small production team, demonstrating flexibility and willingness to assist others to meet production goals.
Skills
- At least 1 year of experience in a production or manufacturing facility.
- Experience working in a fast-paced industrial environment.
- Machine operation experience, including starting, setting up, and adjusting machines during production.
- Ability to read and interpret work orders and follow written instructions.
- Basic math skills for measuring, counting, and weighing materials and packages.
- Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately.
- Ability to lift 20–30 pounds throughout the day.
- Forklift experience and ability to safely move materials and pallets.
- Basic computer skills, comparable to operating a smartphone (iPhone or Android).
- Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with industrial machinery.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to respond quickly to production issues.
- Team-oriented mindset and willingness to help in any area of the plant as needed.
- Comfort working in a paper converting and industrial manufacturing environment.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation related to production and processes.
- Attention to detail to ensure materials run within specifications and meet quality standards
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Philadelphia, PA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
