Job Title: 3rd Shift Set-Up Operator – Induction TOCCO MachinesJob Description

This role is based in a Nadcap-accredited vacuum carburizing and hardening facility that operates multi-chamber vacuum equipment, oil and gas quenching chambers, and both traditional and vacuum tempering furnaces. As a 3rd shift set-up operator, you will run TOCCO induction machines, perform set-ups on legacy equipment, and handle tooling and processing of parts in a clean, well-lit, and highly specialized heat-treat environment.

Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate TOCCO induction machines on 3rd shift, ensuring correct tooling and machine parameters for each job.
  • Tool and process parts on older induction machines, adjusting settings and fixtures to meet production and quality requirements.
  • Perform general labor tasks associated with machine operation, including preparing work areas and handling materials.
  • Load and unload machines with parts efficiently and safely, managing daily throughput ranging from approximately 10 to 1,000 parts.
  • Conduct quality and hardening checks on processed parts to confirm they meet specifications and performance standards.
  • Complete required paperwork (PPW) accurately to document production, inspection results, and process parameters.
  • Use basic inspection methods to verify part quality, identifying defects or deviations and reporting issues promptly.
  • Lift and move materials and parts weighing up to 40 lbs. as needed throughout the shift.
  • Collaborate with a small team while working independently for most of the day, maintaining productivity and attention to detail.
  • Follow all facility safety procedures, equipment operating guidelines, and quality standards in a warm furnace environment.
Essential Skills
  • Experience setting up and operating TOCCO induction machines or similar induction equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform general labor and machine operation tasks in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Mechanical aptitude and comfort running and adjusting machines with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. repeatedly as part of daily duties.
  • Basic inspection skills to assess part quality and verify hardening results.
  • Capability to manage high-volume tooling and processing, ranging from 10 to 1,000 parts per day.
  • Attention to detail in completing required paperwork and following process instructions.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • CNC machine experience is a plus but not required.
  • Experience in environments similar to precision machining or metalworking operations is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with blueprints or schematics is a nice-to-have for understanding part requirements and setups.
  • Comfort working independently for extended periods while maintaining consistent output and quality.
Why Work Here?

You join a small, close-knit team where you are recognized as an individual, not a number, and enjoy a high level of independence in your role. The organization offers a strong benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) with matching contributions, paid time off and vacation, and a culture that values growth, respect, and long-term development. Weekend work is rare, supporting work-life balance, and there are clear opportunities to grow within the operation.

Work Environment

The work takes place in a newer, expanded facility located in an industrial park, featuring a clean, well-lit, and professionally maintained production floor. The environment is warm due to the presence of furnaces and vacuum equipment, and you work on a small team with ownership present in the building. You spend the majority of the day working independently at your station, with the option to wear a headphone in one ear while tooling parts, subject to safety guidelines. The facility houses multi-chamber vacuum equipment, oil and gas quenching chambers, and tempering furnaces, providing a modern, specialized heat-treat setting for machine operation and part processing.
