  • The General Laborer supports daily yard and warehouse operations by sorting products, placing materials in designated bins, and maintaining a clean and safe work area.
  • This role involves frequent use of hand tools and power tools, as well as operating forklifts once trained and certified.
  • The position is ideal for individuals who enjoy physical, hands-on work in both indoor and outdoor environments and are eager to learn new skills.
  • The ideal candidate must have the ability to use a computer. You will learn how to manage the inventory/sorting system.

Responsibilities

  • Sort products in the yard and place them into appropriate bins according to established procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and debris-free work area by sweeping and performing general housekeeping tasks.
  • Use hand tools and power tools safely and correctly to support daily operations.
  • Assist with loading, unloading, and moving materials within the yard and warehouse as needed.
  • Operate forklifts to move products and materials once training and certification are completed.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and procedures while working indoors and outdoors.
  • Inspect tools and equipment before use and report any issues or hazards promptly.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of tasks.
  • Adapt to varying weather conditions and perform general labor duties outdoors on a daily basis.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to perform general labor tasks in an outdoor and warehouse environment.
  • Basic experience or familiarity with outdoor general labor work.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools for routine tasks.
  • Ability to safely use power tools in a warehouse or yard setting.
  • Willingness and ability to learn forklift operation and follow operating procedures.
  • Capability to work in dirty, physically demanding conditions on a daily basis.
  • Commitment to following safety practices and maintaining a clean work area.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a forklift operator is beneficial.
  • Forklift certification or prior forklift operation experience is an asset.
  • Experience working in outdoor environments in varying temperatures.
  • Comfort working in warehouse settings where indoor temperatures may match outdoor conditions.

Work Environment

This position is an outdoor role at a recycling center. You will be working outdoors most of the time. There are times you will work indoors in a warehouse / yard setting. The indoor environment closely matches the outdoor temperature throughout the year, so you should be comfortable working in hot, cold, and variable weather conditions. The role includes regular use of hand tools, power tools, and forklifts (once trained), and requires appropriate work attire suitable for a dirty, industrial, and outdoor-focused setting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Frederick, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $37400.00 - $37400.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

Will be operating forklifts and getting trained on a sit-down forklift for indoor/outdoor use.
