Job Description

As a CNC Machinist, you will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC mills and lathes in a dynamic job shop environment. This role involves setting up tooling, adjusting speeds and feeds, making program edits, handling offsets, and managing changeovers and fixtures. You will run and inspect the first piece of parts, measuring them with precision instruments such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, and zolars. Operating a range of machines, including mills, lathes, and mill turns from 3-axis to 5-axis, you will be cross-trained on various equipment. The role requires reading G&M Codes, making necessary edits, and ensuring parts comply with blueprints. Each task will vary in duration, offering a fresh challenge daily.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC mills and lathes.
  • Adjust speeds and feeds, and handle program edits and offsets.
  • Perform changeovers and manage fixtures.
  • Run first piece and conduct first piece inspection on parts.
  • Measure parts using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and zolars.
  • Operate a variety of machinery from 3-axis to 5-axis machines.
  • Read and edit G&M Codes as necessary.
  • Read blueprints and verify parts align with specifications.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in setting up CNC machines.
  • Proficiency with measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
  • Ability to adjust speeds, feeds, offsets, and handle changeovers.
  • Experience working with 3-axis machines or greater.
  • High school diploma or GED.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with Mazak, mechanical, and machine operations.
  • Familiarity with CNC equipment and CAD/CAM software.
  • Programming skills are a plus.

Work Environment

This role is on the 2nd shift, from 2-11pm, Monday through Friday. The job shop environment offers a variety of daily tasks, ensuring a non-repetitive and engaging work experience.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New Albany, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $33.00/hr.
