Job Title: Quality Control Technician

Job Description

The Quality Control Technician evaluates finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and acceptability criteria. This position requires performing necessary analyses according to product specifications, communicating product quality issues to relevant staff, and maintaining thorough documentation for compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate finished products for quality and acceptability.
  • Perform necessary analyses as per product specifications.
  • Communicate product quality issues to Production Supervisors, Managers, QC Manager, and shipping and customer service staff.
  • Log all analysis test results and batch information in the I-Series (AS400) and maintain necessary records.
  • Monitor line equipment for functionality, safety, and cleanliness.
  • Check metal detectors, magnets, scales, and perform critical control point and GMP audits.
  • Assist in foreign material and product non-conformance investigations.
  • Perform batch set-up checks, assist in correcting the set-ups, and log discrepancies.
  • Place products on hold as necessary and release them when appropriate.
  • Reject products as necessary and complete rejection forms including root cause and corrective action analysis.
  • Check allergen clean-out effectiveness as needed.
  • Perform Pre-Op audits when equipment is down for maintenance.
  • Perform production scale checks and lab equipment calibration based on schedule.
  • Collect micro samples and place micro hold products on hold.
  • Perform special tasks as assigned and manage sample areas and control sample files.
  • Follow all GMP and safety procedures.

Essential Skills

  • Quality control experience in food manufacturing.
  • Ability to use quality control analysis equipment.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English.
  • Mathematical skills.
  • Computer and data processing skills.
  • Physical ability to climb ladders to work platforms and lift 50 pounds.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED with 1-2 years of related work experience.
  • Candidates with degrees may have promotional opportunities.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chicago, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.50 - $22.55/hr.
