This role supports high-volume packaging and production operations by operating automated machinery, working on dip and dressing lines, and ensuring products are accurately packaged, labeled, and prepared for shipment. You will help keep production lines running smoothly by monitoring equipment, inspecting products, handling materials, and using computer systems and scanners to verify and print orders.

Responsibilities
  • Operate and monitor packaging lines and machinery, including highly automated equipment, to maintain steady product flow.
  • Work on dip and dressing lines to package lids, bowls, bottles, and finished goods according to production requirements.
  • Inspect products for quality, accuracy, and defects, and remove any nonconforming items from the line.
  • Check labels for accuracy and placement to ensure all packaged products meet labeling standards.
  • Keep product flowing smoothly on the lines by adjusting materials, clearing minor issues, and maintaining line pace.
  • Unjam and clear packaging and filling lines safely to minimize downtime and maintain productivity.
  • Assist with line changeovers and transitions between different product lines, including setup and basic adjustments.
  • Monitor packaging and filling lines for proper operation, promptly reporting issues to the appropriate personnel.
  • Lift boxes and materials onto pallets and arrange them safely and efficiently for storage or shipment.
  • Wrap pallets securely to prepare finished goods for transport and warehouse storage.
  • Use computer systems to verify and print orders and production documentation as needed.
  • Operate EPJS and RF scanners to track materials, products, and orders throughout the production process.
  • Perform general production, material handling, staging, and loading tasks as assigned.
  • Follow safety procedures, including proper use of required footwear and equipment, and maintain a clean and organized work area.
Essential Skills
  • 2–3 years of packaging line experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
  • 2+ years of manufacturing experience working with production or packaging equipment.
  • Proven machine operating experience of at least 2+ years, including setup and basic operation.
  • Hands-on packaging experience, including working on packaging lines and handling finished goods.
  • Ability to perform staging, loading, and general material handling tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis as part of daily duties.
  • Experience performing inspections and quality checks on products and packaging.
  • Comfort working in foods or chemical production environments (strongly preferred).
  • Basic computer skills, including verifying and printing orders and interacting with automated systems.
  • Ability to use EPJS and RF scanners or similar scanning technology for tracking and documentation.
  • Willingness and ability to work on any of the three shifts as required by production needs.
  • Ability to wear and use appropriate safety footwear, such as steel-toed boots, as required on the production floor.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Previous experience in general production, general labor, or material handling roles.
  • Experience with packing, picking, and loading tasks in a manufacturing or distribution setting.
  • Familiarity with highly automated machinery and systems in a production environment.
  • Experience in a smaller, team-oriented facility where collaboration and flexibility are important.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to consistently follow standard operating procedures.
  • Solid work ethic, reliability, and comfort working in a fast-paced, continually busy operation.

Work Environment

The role is based on a normal production floor in a temperature-controlled facility with approximately 110 team members and a three-shift operation. Shifts include 1st shift from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., 2nd shift from 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., and 3rd shift from 10:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. Sunday through Thursday night. The facility maintains clean common areas and a cafeteria where employees can take breaks comfortably. Employees can purchase products from the facility at discounted rates. Work involves regular lifting of up to 50 lbs, operating automated machinery, working on production and packaging lines, and using EPJS and RF scanners. Appropriate safety footwear, such as steel-toed boots, is required on the production floor.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Thornton, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
