Job Description
This role involves hands-on work with drivetrain components, performing assembly and disassembly tasks using hand tools, precision instruments, and blueprints to ensure products meet strict quality standards. You will support preventive maintenance, continuous improvement initiatives, and cross-training across different areas of the shop while working a consistent 1st or 2nd shift schedule.
Responsibilities
- Perform basic assembly and disassembly operations on drivetrain parts and related components.
- Use blueprints, gauges, torque measuring devices, and other equipment to verify conformance to quality specifications.
- Operate precision measuring devices to accurately assemble and disassemble final products.
- Interpret and follow blueprints and technical drawings to complete work to specification.
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks on tools, equipment, and work areas as required.
- Assist in identifying issues in processes or products and help initiate corrective action procedures.
- Conduct Safety Stop Audit observations to support a safe working environment.
- Participate actively in Continuous Improvement (CI) and Process Improvement and Development (PID) activities.
- Support cross-training by performing additional duties or tasks in various areas of the shop as assigned.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in alignment with shop standards.
Essential Skills
- Hands-on experience with assembly and disassembly of mechanical components, particularly drivetrain parts.
- Proficiency using hand tools and related shop equipment for mechanical work.
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply information from blueprints and technical drawings.
- Skill in using gauges, torque measuring devices, and other precision measuring instruments.
- Experience performing mechanical inspections to ensure conformance to quality specifications.
- Capability to perform preventive maintenance on tools, equipment, and workstations.
- Familiarity with mechanical assembly or disassembly, welding, metal fabrication, agricultural or construction equipment assembly, or mechanics.
- Ability to follow safety procedures and participate in safety audits and observations.
- Willingness to work 1st shift (Monday through Thursday, 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) or 2nd shift (Monday through Thursday, 4:15 p.m. to 2:45 a.m.).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Prior experience in mechanical assembly or disassembly is highly encouraged.
- Experience in welding or metal fabrication is beneficial.
- Experience with agricultural or construction equipment assembly is an advantage.
- Mechanical or automotive repair experience (mechanics) is considered a strong plus.
- Previous involvement in Continuous Improvement (CI) or process improvement initiatives is helpful.
- Comfort working in a structured, production-oriented shop environment.
Work Environment
The position is based in a clean, well-organized shop environment with approximately 100 employees on the first shift and a structured 2nd shift operation. The standard schedule is Monday through Thursday from 4:15 p.m. to 2:45 a.m., providing a four-day workweek with potential overtime. The shop uses hand tools, gauges, torque measuring devices, and precision measuring equipment to support high-quality mechanical assembly and disassembly work. The facility emphasizes safety, organization, and collaboration across different areas of the shop.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of West Fargo, ND.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $23.76 - $30.24/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
