Job Description
The Shipping Clerk plays a key role in daily warehouse operations by accurately pulling orders, safely operating reach trucks and forklifts, and efficiently loading and unloading trucks in a fast-paced shipping environment.
Responsibilities
- Pull and prepare customer orders accurately and in a timely manner according to shipping documentation and warehouse procedures.
- Load and unload trucks safely using reach trucks, forklifts, and other material handling equipment as required.
- Inspect incoming and outgoing shipments to verify quantity, quality, labeling, and packaging against shipping documents.
- Organize, stage, and secure pallets and freight in designated areas to ensure efficient workflow and space utilization.
- Operate reach trucks and forklifts in a safe and compliant manner, following all warehouse safety rules and equipment guidelines.
- Assist with general shipping and receiving activities, including moving materials, consolidating loads, and preparing shipments for dispatch.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area, including aisles, docks, and staging zones, to support safety and productivity.
- Communicate effectively with warehouse team members and drivers to coordinate loading, unloading, and order status.
- Follow established processes and instructions from supervisors to meet daily shipping targets and performance expectations.
Essential Skills
- Proven experience working as a Shipping Clerk or in a similar shipping and receiving role.
- Hands-on experience operating reach trucks in a warehouse or distribution environment.
- Ability to safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment.
- Strong attention to detail when pulling orders and verifying shipments.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including standing for extended periods and handling freight in a warehouse setting.
- Reliability and willingness to work overtime hours when needed to support shipping volume.
- Basic communication skills to coordinate tasks with team members and drivers.

Work Environment
This role is based in a cold warehouse environment where temperatures require wearing a full winter suit or comparable cold-weather gear for comfort and safety. Work is primarily performed on the warehouse floor around docks and storage areas, with regular use of reach trucks and forklifts. The setting is fast-paced and physically active, involving frequent movement, lifting, and handling of freight. Overtime is common, and schedules may extend beyond standard full-time hours, with the potential to work up to approximately 60 hours per week depending on operational needs.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cleveland, OH.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.50/hr.
