General Labor- 1st Shift Carpentry
Job Description
This entry-level general labor role supports the preparation, assembly, and finishing of display window units in a clean, organized shop environment. You will perform a variety of hands-on tasks that may be repetitive at times, including cleaning, light assembly, minor painting, and assisting with shipping and receiving, all with a strong focus on quality and attention to detail.
Responsibilities- Clean display windows thoroughly using appropriate cleaning solutions to ensure they are ready for shipment.
- Use products such as glass cleaner to clean windows and surrounding areas, maintaining a neat and professional appearance.
- Perform assembly and bolting of various window units for display using screw guns and cordless drills.
- Read and use a tape measure for minor measurements to support accurate assembly and finishing work.
- Use cordless drills to drive and secure screws into window units and related components.
- Carry out minor painting and touch-up work on display units so they meet quality standards before shipping.
- Assist with packaging and preparing display units and related materials for shipment.
- Support shipping and receiving activities as needed, including moving, staging, and organizing materials.
- Handle hand tools and power tools safely, including drills, saws, nail guns, and wrenches, as required for shop tasks.
- Sand and perform basic finishing work on components to ensure smooth, presentable surfaces.
- Work independently or as part of a team of 7–8 people, depending on the task and project requirements.
- Lift and move materials and products, using team lifts for items over 50 pounds to maintain a safe work environment.
- Follow all shop safety procedures and use provided personal protective equipment correctly.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area throughout the shift.
- Be willing to work overtime when required to meet production and shipping deadlines.
- Fulfill the full contract duration of approximately 3–6 months.
- Strong attention to detail and a quality-driven mindset to ensure display products look professional before shipment.
- Comfort working in a shop environment, particularly in a wood-focused or similar setting.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and participate in team lifts for heavier items.
- Basic familiarity with cordless screwdrivers and drills, or willingness to learn and use them safely.
- Capability to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining accuracy and consistency.
- Reliability and commitment to fulfill a 3–6 month contract.
- Willingness to work overtime when required.
- Approximately 6+ months of shop experience, preferably in a wood shop or similar environment, is a plus; hobbyist experience from home projects is also valued.
- Experience with basic hand tools such as wrenches and manual screwdrivers.
- Experience with power tools including cordless drills, saws, and nail guns.
- Background in assembly, carpentry, construction, warehouse work, or packaging is beneficial.
- Ability to use a tape measure for simple measurements.
- Experience with painting, sanding, and other finishing tasks is an advantage.
- Comfort working both independently and as part of a team.

Work EnvironmentThe role is based in an open, very organized job shop environment where work is performed either independently or within a team of 7–8 people, depending on the task. Standard 1st shift hours are Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with extended hours often running from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Overtime may be required to meet production needs. A 2nd shift is also in operation from 2:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. Monday through Thursday, with additional time available on Fridays. The dress code includes t-shirt, jeans, and work boots or leather boots; tennis shoes are not permitted. Personal protective equipment is provided on the first day and must be worn as directed. The shop uses a variety of hand tools and power tools, including cordless drills, saws, nail guns, tape measures, screw guns, and wrenches, in a setting that emphasizes organization, safety, and efficient workflow.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
