The Quality Inspector performs dimensional inspections on aerospace components, sets up and operates inspection equipment, and evaluates parts against engineering drawings and specifications. This role applies geometric dimensioning and tolerancing principles, records detailed inspection results, and supports other departments by providing accurate quality data.

Responsibilities
  • Set up and perform basic dimensional inspections, including measurements of linear dimensions, hole sizes, outer diameters (OD), inner diameters (ID), and other critical features.
  • Make independent inspection set-ups using appropriate tools and fixtures to verify part conformity to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Apply a basic understanding of ASME Y14.5 to interpret geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) requirements on blueprints.
  • Analyze facts and circumstances surrounding individual inspection issues and determine acceptance or rejection of parts within defined requirements.
  • Use calipers, micrometers, and other mechanical inspection tools to perform accurate measurements.
  • Operate coordinate measuring machines (CMM) to perform precise dimensional inspections, where applicable.
  • Perform inspections and record results in a clear, organized manner to assist other departments with research, analysis, and problem-solving.
  • Review and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to identify inspection points and tolerances.
  • Contribute to quality control activities by identifying nonconformances and communicating findings to appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain inspection tools and equipment in good working condition and follow established quality procedures and documentation requirements.
Essential Skills
  • At least 2 years of quality inspection experience in the aerospace industry.
  • Ability to make independent set-ups for basic dimensional inspection, including linear dimensions, hole size, OD, and ID.
  • Basic understanding of ASME Y14.5 and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Proficiency in using calipers, micrometers, and other mechanical inspection tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Ability to read and write to accurately document inspection results and follow written procedures.
  • Experience in quality control and inspection of mechanical components.
  • For one opening: 5+ years of experience in quality inspection along with CMM experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience operating coordinate measuring machines (CMM) for dimensional inspection.
  • Background in aerospace manufacturing or precision mechanical inspection.
  • Familiarity with inspection documentation practices and quality control systems.
  • Comfort working with detailed geometric dimensioning and tolerancing requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to analyze inspection data to support problem-solving.

Work Environment

This role follows a 9/80 alternative work schedule, with working hours from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and every other Friday off, supporting work-life balance. You will work in a production and inspection environment focused on aerospace components, using tools such as calipers, micrometers, mechanical inspection equipment, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM). The setting emphasizes adherence to quality standards, safe work practices, and consistent use of inspection procedures and documentation.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Los Angeles, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $40.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
