As a Welder, you will engage in structural welding with various wire sizes, focusing on flux core methods. You will work on welding 1/2 inch and thicker steel in multiple positions (1-3G) on mild steel. Additionally, you will assist in pre-fabrication operations as required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural welding using flux core techniques on 1/2 inch+ steel in various positions (1-3G).
  • Assist in pre-fabrication operations when needed.
  • Conduct full layout and fitting of structural assemblies according to blueprints and welding symbols.
  • Verify layout accuracy with quality checks and collaborate with the welding team to complete job sections.
  • Take ownership of all job aspects, including layout, fitting, welding, and quality assurance throughout project completion.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in welding and fabricating structural steel.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
  • Experience with Flux Core, Dual Shield, and Structural Welding in 3G positions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • WABO, AWS, and 3G certifications are advantageous but not required.
  • Ability to pass a 1/2 inch plate test in 3G for welders and 1G for fitters and leads.
  • Competency in walking through drawings and performing layout tasks.

Work Environment

You will work in a local Transco shop that handles structural projects and supports national operations for structural conveying systems used in mining. The facility spans 100,000 square feet and is AISC-Certified, featuring complete fabrication, sandblasting, and a painting area. The state-of-the-art computer drafting and modeling department is located on a 10-acre campus in Portland, Oregon. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Portland, OR.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $32.00/hr.
