Job Description

This role supports a large, highly automated manufacturing facility that produces high-end stainless steel kitchen appliances, including stoves, microwaves, and refrigerators. As a Maintenance Technician, you work as a true jack-of-all-trades, performing both mechanical and electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance on a wide range of plant equipment. You help ensure that production runs safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime in a clean, climate-controlled environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical and electrical repairs on a variety of plant equipment, including fabrication equipment such as lasers and presses, industrial robots, automated conveyor lines, thermoforming machines, and foam forming machines.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance (PMs) on all assigned plant equipment to reduce unplanned downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues using mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic knowledge to quickly identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
  • Perform minor welding and basic fabrication tasks as needed to support equipment repair and modification.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and blueprints to guide troubleshooting and repair activities.
  • Work with electrical systems up to 480 volts, following safety procedures and best practices at all times.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), primarily using Allen-Bradley platforms and some Siemens systems, including PLC troubleshooting for automated equipment.
  • Support special projects as assigned, which may include equipment upgrades, process improvements, and installation or modification of machinery.
  • Use personal basic tools for day-to-day tasks while properly caring for and utilizing company-provided specialized and high-value tools.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance technicians and production personnel to prioritize work, minimize production interruptions, and maintain a safe and efficient operation.
  • Document maintenance work performed, including repairs, parts used, and time spent, in accordance with facility procedures.
  • Follow all facility safety policies and procedures, including lockout/tagout and safe work practices around high-voltage and automated equipment.
  • Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the maintenance shop and surrounding work areas to support a well-kept facility.
  • Participate in ongoing training and education, including company-supported coursework, to advance technical skills and support career growth within maintenance and related departments.

Essential Skills

  • At least 5 years of experience as an industrial maintenance technician in a manufacturing or similar industrial environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in mechanical repair and maintenance of industrial equipment.
  • Proficiency with hydraulics and pneumatics, including troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Solid electrical skills, including experience working with systems up to 480 volts in an industrial setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance on a wide range of plant equipment.
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing fabrication equipment such as lasers, presses, and automated conveyor systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and support robots and automated equipment used in a production environment.
  • Experience with PLC troubleshooting, primarily with Allen-Bradley systems and some Siemens platforms.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and blueprints.
  • Basic welding and fabrication skills sufficient for minor repair and modification work.
  • Industrial troubleshooting skills, including systematic problem-solving and root-cause analysis.
  • Ability to use and maintain a set of personal basic tools required for day-to-day maintenance tasks.
  • Completion of a 2-year technical degree or equivalent technical education.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Two-year technical degree in a relevant field such as industrial maintenance, electromechanical technology, or a related discipline.
  • Experience working in a highly automated manufacturing environment with advanced machinery and robotics.
  • Comfort working on special projects, including equipment upgrades and process improvements.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills to effectively coordinate with fellow technicians and production staff.
  • Willingness to participate in additional technical training and coursework sponsored by the company.
  • Interest in long-term career growth into areas such as welding, maintenance leadership, or machining.

Work Environment

The role is based in a 600,000-square-foot manufacturing facility recognized as one of the cleanest and best-maintained plants in the region. The environment is highly automated and climate controlled, maintained at approximately 72 degrees for comfortable year-round work. The position primarily supports second shift, typically running Monday through Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Overtime is available and flexible, with the option to work around 40 hours per week or increase up to approximately 60 hours per week depending on workload and preference. Overtime may occur during the week, with shifts extending up to 12 hours, or on weekends for additional hours. The maintenance team is growing, with a target of nine technicians on second shift and nine on third shift, creating a collaborative and well-staffed environment. Basic tools are provided by the technician, while the company supplies more specialized and expensive tools. The facility emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and equipment care, creating a professional and well-kept setting for maintenance work.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $80000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
