Job Description
We are seeking a dependable and patient-focused Phlebotomist to join a small family clinic in Cookeville, TN. This position supports a single-physician practice and serves as the clinic's dedicated Labcorp representative. The ideal candidate will have experience with blood collection, specimen processing, and data entry while providing excellent patient care.
Schedule- Monday - Friday
- 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
- Lunch Break: 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
- Perform approximately 20 blood draws per day using straight and butterfly needles.
- Explain specimen collection procedures clearly and professionally to patients.
- Collect, label, process, and store specimens according to established laboratory procedures.
- Verify patient information and complete accurate data entry.
- Match laboratory requisition forms with specimen samples to ensure accuracy.
- Label, centrifuge, split, freeze, and prepare specimens based on testing requirements.
- Package and prepare specimens for transport to testing facilities.
- Store specimens according to required temperature and handling guidelines.
- Review physician orders and test requisitions for completeness and accuracy.
- Record maintenance data and perform routine equipment decontamination.
- Troubleshoot specimen collection and processing issues as needed.
- Support workflow improvements and maintain compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Previous phlebotomy experience.
- Strong venipuncture skills using both straight and butterfly needles.
- Experience with specimen processing, labeling, centrifuging, and storage.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and patient service skills.
- Ability to work independently in a clinic setting.
- Basic computer and data entry skills.
- At least 1 year of phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Experience working in a physician's office, clinic, or laboratory environment.
- Knowledge of specimen handling, processing, and transportation requirements.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred, if applicable.
This position is located in a small family clinic in Cookeville, TN, supporting one physician. As the sole Labcorp team member onsite, you will work independently while handling blood collections, specimen preparation, processing, and data entry. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building patient relationships, taking ownership of their work, and contributing to a positive clinic experience.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cookeville, TN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.85/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
