Job Description
The Electro Mechanical Technician will support highly automated manufacturing operations by maintaining, troubleshooting, programming, and commissioning PLC-controlled equipment, industrial control systems, instrumentation, and electrical systems. This role plays a key part in ensuring reliable plant operations, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and contributing to capital projects within a fast-paced production environment.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, program, and maintain PLC systems, including ControlLogix, CompactLogix, FactoryTalk, and RS Linx platforms.
- Support automated manufacturing equipment, process control systems, instrumentation, electrical systems, and HMI/SCADA applications to ensure reliable and efficient production.
- Install, commission, calibrate, and maintain variable frequency drives (VFDs), sensors, transmitters, flow meters, control valves, and other control system components.
- Support equipment startups, process improvements, system upgrades, and capital projects across the manufacturing facility.
- Perform root cause analysis and advanced troubleshooting on production equipment and industrial control systems to resolve complex issues and prevent recurrence.
- Maintain and improve industrial automation and manufacturing automation systems to optimize production performance and reliability.
- Apply electrical and controls troubleshooting techniques to diagnose issues with power distribution, industrial electrical systems, and controls maintenance.
- Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to support continuous improvement efforts and implement automation-related enhancements.
- Utilize HMI and SCADA systems to monitor, adjust, and optimize process controls and production equipment.
- Contribute technical expertise to commissioning activities and equipment installations associated with new projects and upgrades.
Essential Skills
- At least 6 years of industrial controls, automation, or electrical maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong PLC programming and troubleshooting experience, including ladder logic and related programming methodologies.
- Hands-on experience with PLC platforms such as ControlLogix and CompactLogix.
- Proven ability to support automated production equipment and process control systems in a production environment.
- Solid knowledge of industrial electrical systems, power distribution, and electrical troubleshooting techniques.
- Experience with instrumentation and controls, including sensors, transmitters, flow meters, and control valves.
- Proficiency with HMI and SCADA applications used in industrial automation and process controls.
- Demonstrated ability to perform controls troubleshooting and controls maintenance on complex manufacturing equipment.
- Experience working with variable frequency drives (VFDs) in an industrial setting.
- Experience in industrial automation, manufacturing automation, and industrial maintenance.
- Ability to perform root cause analysis and advanced troubleshooting on control systems and production equipment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in food, beverage, or consumer packaged goods (CPG) manufacturing environments.
- Hands-on experience with SCADA and HMI systems, including Wonderware platforms.
- Experience with commissioning activities, capital projects, and equipment installation in an industrial facility.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and electrical schematics.
- Familiarity with continuous improvement initiatives in manufacturing and production settings.
- Comfort working with highly automated manufacturing systems and advanced process controls.
- Strong problem-solving skills and an interest in tackling complex controls and automation challenges.
Work Environment
This role is based in a highly automated manufacturing facility that utilizes PLCs, SCADA systems, HMI interfaces, instrumentation, VFDs, and advanced process controls to support production operations. There are two Electro Mechanical Technician openings: one on a day shift from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, and one on a swing shift from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM. Overtime is expected during peak production periods to support critical plant operations and project work. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Sacramento, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 - $50.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
