Test Engineer
Job Description
The Test Engineer will communicate with design engineers to understand design concepts or changes, select necessary tests, and make comprehensive test plans. These plans include equipment reservation, coordination of manpower resources, sampling plans, and defining the necessity of fixtures or mating parts. The role involves studying part quantities needed for test completion, coordinating delivery of test parts, and tracking their schedule. The engineer will perform or oversee technicians performing tests according to customer requirements, review and approve test reports, support root cause analysis, and develop countermeasures. The engineer will use general work tools, measurement devices, and job-specific software, train team members on testing processes and methods, and follow established work practices to ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory or customer requirements.

- Coordinate equipment reservation, manpower resources, and sampling plans.
- Define the necessity of fixtures or mating parts for tests.
- Study and manage part quantities for test completion.
- Coordinate delivery of test parts and track their schedules.
- Perform or oversee technicians performing tests according to customer requirements.
- Review and approve test reports prepared by technicians.
- Support root cause analysis and development of countermeasures.
- Train team members on testing processes and methods.
- Follow established work practices to ensure compliance with policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in preventative maintenance of equipment and test fixtures.
- Participate in product design reviews and DFMEA development.
- Proficiency in test engineering, test development, and test reporting.
- Experience with measurement tools and test equipment.
- Ability to create and manage validation and test plans.
- Troubleshooting skills.
- Above average mathematical, written, and communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Computer literacy.
- M.E. or equivalent degree with a concentration in mechanical engineering or other technical degrees with relevant experience.
- Experience relative to the position may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Professionalism in a business environment.
- Capability of using basic measurement devices like force gauge, digital meter, and thermometer.
- Capability of using basic hand tools such as soldering.
This role is primarily onsite at the Test Center in Manchester, which houses a variety of test equipment, including chambers, drive-ins, vibration testing, infrared, fogging, haze, flammability, scratch/abrasion, and impact testing devices. The test team consists of around 12 people. There is some flexibility to work from home one day a week for reporting and related activities. Benefits include vacation time and billed holidays.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Manchester, TN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $32.00/hr.
