Join Our Manufacturing Team

Alumitank is seeking an experienced CNC Setup Operator to join our manufacturing team in Harvard, Illinois. If you have hands-on experience setting up CNC equipment—particularly Haas machines—and take pride in producing accurate, high-quality parts, we want to hear from you.

This position is ideal for someone with strong mechanical aptitude who can independently perform machine setups, read blueprints and GD&T specifications, make tooling and offset adjustments, and verify finished parts using precision measuring equipment.

What You’ll Do

· Set up, calibrate, and operate CNC machines, primarily Haas equipment

· Set tools, fixtures, workholding, and materials for production runs

· Verify CNC programs, tooling, and offsets prior to production

· Perform trial runs and make necessary adjustments to feeds, speeds, tooling, and offsets

· Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T specifications

· Inspect finished parts using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, gauges, and other precision measuring instruments

· Monitor production to ensure parts meet required specifications and tolerances

· Troubleshoot minor machining, setup, tooling, and process issues

· Perform routine machine maintenance, lubrication, and tool replacement

· Accurately document production information, setup parameters, and adjustments

· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area

· Work with production, engineering, and quality teams to improve machining processes and product quality

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications

· High school diploma or equivalent

· Previous CNC setup and machining experience

· Ability to independently perform CNC machine setups

· Strong blueprint and technical drawing reading skills

· Working knowledge of GD&T

· Experience using precision measuring instruments

· Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills

· Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment

· Commitment to quality, accuracy, and workplace safety

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience setting up and operating Haas CNC machines

· Technical school, machining, or vocational training

· Working knowledge of G-code and M-code

· Experience making program, tooling, feed, speed, and offset adjustments

Physical Requirements

· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

· Ability to stand and work on your feet for extended periods

· Ability to perform repetitive machining and inspection tasks with accuracy

· Ability to work safely around manufacturing equipment and machinery

Work Environment

This position works in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, production noise, and varying temperatures. Employees are required to follow all established safety procedures and PPE requirements.

Pay & Benefits

$25.00–$30.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
